The thing that really gets me about the TRASHY/SKANKY/INAPPROPRIATE FOR WORK ENVIRONMENT comments is that honestly, as several people have pointed out, there's no easy way to distinguish between a bruise left from necking and a bruise left from getting hit by a cupboard door. It's merely a small bruise on the skin, and if it's not inappropriate when it's left by a cupboard door/IV needle/what have you, then why is it inappropriate when left by teeth?

Honestly, that has more to do with the sexual paranoia of the observer than by any objective standard of appropriate behavior.

I'm still boggling at the person who said they'd never eat at a restraunt again if a server there had a visible hickey. Are they afraid the skank-ness is catching or something?

I think they're afraid that the mere shock of such an indiscretion on the waitperson's part will bring a severe case of the vapours!
