Help, help, I'm being oppressed!
CuteOverload is known for being one of the wankiest places on the internet. Something about adorable animals just drags out the wankers in full force.

A picture is posted of a cat and baby together. Someone apparently childfree feels the need to comment, Ugh! Cute ruined by a sproglet! Ahhhhh!

Naturally, all Hell breaks loose. Forward fly accusations that the baby is ugly, CFers are heartless, and that everyone, on both sides, is being oppressed.

Of course, it's possible to argue that the comments wouldn't have escalated if if it hadn't also been posted to cf_hardcore.

Where's the "IT IS A DAILY STRUGGLE BEING CHILDFREE" icon when you need it?

While the really hardcore CF community gets on my nerves to no end, I have to say that every time I visit Cute Overload, I want to strangle people who use the word 'kitteh' more than three times in a single comment. And the urge gets stronger every time.

And so help me, the extreme catspeak on cat_macros is about to make my brain cave in. Apropos of almost nothing, I've just needed to say that for a while.

"Kitteh" - do people really say that?

I have to disagree a bit, and say that I tend to like the utterly bizarre cat-macro English, but people who talk that way without trying to make a joke of it sort of scare me ...

Oh, I don't mind the basics of catspeak, but it's getting to the point where they are barely recognizable words anymore. Just my personal preference, but I think that if my cat could talk, she'd spell *most* of her words correctly. :)

If my cats could talk, I'm sure they'd refer to themselves as something like "His Majesty Catophocles, Supreme Master of Curtain Climbing Rodent Catchers". In Ancient Greek or Egyptian, of course.

OMG, I am the biggest nerd in the history of ever.

It took me longer to find the stupid signs on my computer than to figure out, honestly. ALSO THERE WAS NO ANKH SIGN OKAY.

I hate *all* the "-eh" speech. "Funneh", "kitteh", and ugh ugh ugh UGH especially "hunneh" and "bebeh". KILL IT WITH FIRE.

There's actually a Greasemonkey script that takes out Meg's text and leaves the pictures, if you dislike the twee. I think it's cute, but I can see where someone else might not.

Not dislike, honestly, just get tweaked by the sheer volume of it. I blame it on my own hyper-obsessive view of language; as much fun as it is watching new languages/dialects/whatever coming into being, I sort of mourn the old one.

Then I get over it. Eventually. I might have to check out the Greasemonkey, it looks like it's got all kinds of tools that will make my brain less prone to crankiness.

"aawwww. both bebbeh and kitteh look verry happeh!"

NO ONE can talk that that and be serious. Right?

I would say it on a site called "Cute Overload." I probably wouldn't say it in an email to my boss. It's all about context!

My kitteh is sitting on my desk purring as I type this, and she looks verreh happeh, bebeh!

::has perfectly straight face::

(OF COURSE YOU BELIEVE ME!)

P.S. Please note icon keywords. :-D

It'd be more appropriate if it read "eh dehsseh kehnd of sehsseh" or something [/semi-random]

I agree with Snacky; it is Cute Overload. I think I just need to turn off the Internets for a while.

Prince of Tennis movie or clean up for termite guy tomorrow... hmm...

I could...but "moveh" reminds me too much of "move it" which will lead to much booty shaking.

I like tah moveh, moveh! :P

Or the musicals! Then it's superpowered tennis without any actual tennis involved. Just swinging rackets at invisible balls and singing.

No, no, no, CO-populators! If you're going to use -eh on words that end in -y, then you can spell 'very' as 'verra'.

But you can't blame people for speaking that way! They can't help themselves! It's a scientific fact! Just look at the chart!
