My SO said that I spend so much time working outside with the horses I should marry her.. so I did... matching rings, a little ceremony and all. I couldnt resist.

I think all things considered such a commitment is a human ceremony and I would wager she was indiffrent but she stood there and rested her head on my knee. I would like to think she knew it was something special or atleast did it for me. I laugh when I look at the state of the world... we probibly take our marrage more serously than most people do looking at statistics anyway.

But I think what is important to her is when I share my coffee with her in the mornings, when I hug her after I get home every day without fail, the times she has slept with her head on my chest, when I canceled all my appointments and sat up all day with her because she had a sore hoof. The first time she broke into the house when I was sick and she stood by the bed, when she seeks me out when I am upset because she just knows and gives me a shoulder to cry on, me knowing just where that one itchy spot is she cant reach. In the end these are things that have meaning. If things like this dont make a relationship I dont know what does.

Its a long story but in many ways she saved my life just as I did hers in the begining I wouldnt know what to do without her

It's not going to hurt them. My horse has chugged an entire bottle of cola (he picked it in his teeth and tossed his head back, I shit you not) and my friend's horse drank a gallon of iced tea once. It's pretty normal for me in the summer to take a sip of my soda, pour some in my palm for the horse, take a sip, pour some out, etc.

Then again, my horse was also fed a cigarette by a well-meaning "old timer" in the interest of "killin' them worms" and seemed fine so my horse might just be a freak.

	I had a horse that stole cigars out of the farrier's pocket all the time. She got along well with the pony that stole hot dogs from kids petting the other ponies. That pony was in cahoots with the one that liked Twinkies. And the cigar stealer would attempt pocket diving for menthol cough drops. I'm convinced all horses are freaks. 	The Amish feed their horses chewing tobacco to kill worms all the time. Judging from how poorly a lot of the Amish buggy horses in this area look, I don't think it works. (Reply to this)(Parent)
