Bite-size ljsecret wank brings the internet psychologists to the yard!
This just in from ljsecret:

Pedophilia: Is it an illness? Does being attracted to middle school girls count as pedophilia? Should someone who is attracted to such girls be allowed to teach at a middle school?

And another minor flare-up that might grow: pedophilia=/=child molestation.

Here's the picture that caused all the fuss. I know, ljsecret wank = fish in bucket, but this one has a certain disturbing charm.

I think some of those wankers have a good point. But people who can't communicate their beliefs fully shouldn't be allowed to have controversial beliefs, they just make everyone involved look dumb.

Wankers often have good points. It's when they leave those points behind them and begin frolicking blithely in the land of "STFU AND DIAF, PEDO!!"/"NO U" that we must point and laugh.

IAWTC.

personally, I find it annoying that people are jumping down the guy's throat for playing Devil's Advocate, even if the subject in question is wrong.

it kinda reminds me of those "If you write/read this kind of porn, you're a sick fuck" types of people. of course, that's a whole 'nother ballgame.

so uh yeah. flames, death threats, wild accusations, let 'im fly. I'm just giving my thoughts on yaoi.

I dunno. He defended a guy who's considering going into teaching middle schoolers because he finds them sexually attractive by saying it's no worse than what vets and gardeners do. He seems to be missing the point that said action is acting on his urges, and therefore wrong.

He's also an idiot for calling someone a coward for being anonymous when I hardly think that's his picture up there, or his real name.

Why are people assuming it's a man? Or that it's real, for that matter. It seems like a troll secret to me.

Are the girls in the picture even of middle-school age? [This is hardly the point, I know.] I'm so used to seeing pre-teen girls dressing and acting at least ten years older than they actually are that I can't tell how old twelve year-olds are supposed to look.

I have an 11-year-old sister to compare them to, and yeah, I'd say they look like they're in middle school. It is kind of refreshing to see middle school kids dressing their age (my sister doesn't!). I'll just, uh, put my hand over the creepy caption on the right side and ignore it. There. Much better. Aww, they're BFFs.

A high-school teacher from Azumanga Daioh, teaches Japanese classics. He gives a mini-lecture to his class on how to choose your career, and when one of his students asks "So why did you pick the career of high-school teacher", he responds "The high-school girls! I love 'em!!"

Am I the only person whose first thought was "if that's your only reason, you're going to DIE trying to teach middle school"? Because teaching middle school is terrifyingly difficult. And really doesn't leave much time or energy left over for perving.

I think that after spending 6 hours with 120+ middle schoolers, I would kill myself. I'm ready to go back to teaching remedial 11/12th grade reading just to get away from 9th graders; I'd rather deal with mental deficiencies than the hyperactive, hormonal monkeys they've passed off as freshmen.

The only emotion I’m feeling is mild annoyance that a relatively mild LJSecret is causing yet another “pedophillia is ok / no it’s not, you SICKO” argument on the fucking Internet.

Look, if you’re going to have a kerfuffle about shit like this, you’re going to need a stronger trigger than a bunch of school kids waiting for a bus. Buggery or nothing, damnit!

All I can say is that the whole Utena/Akio/Anthy thing took place in junior high, and they turned out fiiiiine...

Which brings us to the matter of Anthy's garden, and the inevitable question of whether she tends the roses because she likes them, or just wants to boff them cross-eyed.

Yeah, agreed. The students' supposed age makes the whole Akio plot even wronger, but 13-year-olds are generally about as deep and enigmatic as a golf course water trap. It really only works for me when I imagine it's a college campus.

Ah, yes, another one of those people who will rationalize and BS and ignore all points made against their stand. It's useless arguing with them, since they are literally incapable of understanding their opponent.
and there we have it. Person is vilified for standing against the crowd.
So the second he gets called on it, he's suddenly a rebel. Nice. He also straw-mans rampantly. And asks a lot of questions while making no actual points of his own.
but hey, kudos on not being personally offensive or spouting meaningless babble

Yeah. I'm a huge animal lover, and yet I, too, did hurtful things to animals when I was too young to know any better. Which I now feel incredibly guilty about.

Awareness of others, and how one should treat them, is something that develops. This is why we have to teach children not to be little shits to each other; because they don't already know.

Wings off flies and all that.

Children of today are coddled and babied but, at the same time, bombarded with adult images and concepts. In the past you learnt to be responsible and you did what you were told. Thats what made the world work. 13yr olds weren't babies.

Damn kids! Get off my lawn and into my bedroom!
