LJ Cuts: SERIOUS BUSINESS.
Oh dear. Who would have thought that a basic request for an LJ cut would go so wrong?

Meet [info]aegion. S/he has a stick so far up his/her bum that any and all requests for LJ cuts are triggering—at least, triggering in that they turn her into a complete asshat whenever they're asked for.

The first instance occurred in [info]ourbedrooms, where a poster made a very image-heavy post. [info]layersofmeaning comments asking for an LJ cut. [info]aegion takes offense at this. Of course, her flipping out is okay because she's a role-model in the community, and anyone that tries to talk sense to her is too verbous, and a stylistic nightmare.

It quiets down after this, but oh no, not for long . . .

Enter [info]naruhodo_kun. She makes a post to [info]girl_gamers, showcasing a piece of fan art she drew. It's pretty large, and it's posted without an LJ cut, so [info]aerynmoo comments asking for a cut. Alas, what she didn't know is that [info]aegion was on the scene, and found her asking for a cut downright rude. She proceeds to flip out. Of course, she can't help it—those requests for cuts are a PET PEEVE, and turn her into a drooling moron. If you can't afford high-speed internet, the lack of LJ cuts will force you off welfare! But don't call her on her shit, or SHE WILL PWN YOU! Just like she pwned that "twenty something year old virgin", [info]misscarlos.

If I don't post again, know it was because [info]aegion PWNED! me.

Never mind that the pictures made the server sluggish or that viewing them was a waste of time for most people and money for others, apparently she believed that sig files the size of small countries were a RIGHT and not caring about how your choices impact others was about FREEDOM. In her mind as well, only those who could access and afford a fast connection/brand-new computer were worthy of being on the internet.

This was a common occurrence a former fandom of mine. The mods would post about sig lengths, people would bitch and moan but shorten their signatures, then eventually the sig lengths would creep back to mile length again.

Which is why I love php-based message boards, you can block signatures all together!

I usually do block sigs whenever possible. I like the sig setup at the Jedi Council forums, because it only allows text and only a few lines, so people can be self-expressive, but giant image spam is kept to a minimum.
