For some reasons I'm quite annoyed about the macros popping up in the comments that contain grammatically wrong German.

The original macro - I won't comment on that; it wouldn't end well.

Reading grammatically wrong German always leaves a part of me giggling with teh Mocking Laughter of Mockery, and a part of me is cringing with a bad aftertaste.

It's kinda like reading about neonazis Ann Coulter past wanks, in a way.

Does it annoy you any more than macros with grammatically wrong English? Like, oh, 90% of the cat macros out there?

I can only speak for me, but it's the intentionally wrong vs. accidentally wrong that bothers me (okay, bother may be a too strong word), if that makes sense.
And the fact that the "Fahren Sie zur Hölle Juden" is stylistically awkward and only calqued - in German, we don't go to hell, we drive there ;-).

When I saw that pic, my first thought was "hell, at least get the German right!", followed closely by "but... what if it's intentionally wrong?".

I don't mind the wrong-English, but with the German on it, it's ... wrongly wrong. Which doesn't make sense, but there it is.

Maybe it's that there's often a subtle but noticable difference between purposefully wrong grammar and really wrong grammar?

It's a little like the difference between the way English speakers imagine (for example) native French speakers who are kind of but not entirely fluent in English, versus the way those speakers would talk in real life. You know - the "I know the English words 'serendipity' and 'problematize', but I don't know how to say 'yes'" people.

Well, I'm generally one for grammar, so...

No, seriously, many of the English terms used have somehow become catchphrases (not the correct term, I guess?) or in-jokes. The German ones, however, aren't in-jokes at all; most just don't make any sense - it appears someone goes "Oh, Nazi macro, so let's use some German words (or what we think are German words) and string them together to something remotely resembling a sentence". I guess I feel similar to how Japanes people must feel about the fangirl Japanese; only that fangirl German is usually associated with things that Germans nowaday don't want to be associated with anyway, which doesn't exactly make it better.

Wow, there's a Wiki entry about this - the internet is an amazing place. "Blinkenlights" is actually a nice word...

Well, I liked your explanation. At least fangirl-Japanese users like the Japanese.

I love Gmail ads. Your comment caused an ad for Japanese loincloths to show up!
