You just don't understand her religious principles!
Over at BRPS, [info]2headed_chicken makes a post about how her sex slave character doesn't need rescuing because she's martyring herself for religion and would people please stop trying to save her?

My character is a slave. She is made to dance in bars for money and if someone pays extra, they can take her into a backroom for an hour. She is used by her owner, his friends, his business associates, hell even people they're just trying to impress as a sexual plaything and beaten if she doesn't live up to someone's expectations. When she isn't being violated for profit or fun, she's kept in chains in the basement of her owner’s base of operation. Basically she's the gimp with a better wardrobe.

But guess what?

It doesn't matter to her. She worships a god that gave her hope when she had none and now gets her through this everyday. She has been taught that one is never given more then they can take, that her path was chosen for her before she was even born, the world around her is just a burnt and broken shell that one day her god will wipe away, and when that time comes, the unbelievers will be smited. She can laugh and sing and smile at those who abuse her not because she likes them or likes what they're doing, but because her heart is filled with pity for them. They will spend eternity in hell while she will sit at the right hand of her god, the least she can do is to not make their time here on earth any worse. She doesn't cringe at every touch and dread every sexual encounter. She has been taught that pleasure is a gift and that there is no greater honor then to bring someone closer to god. So every night spent on her back bringing some idiot to his rest is an act of piety to her. It's not ‘rape’ or ‘sodomy’, it’s worship. And just because she lets someone have a free tumble doesn't mean she LOVES them. There isn't room in her heart for romantic love; the only thing she has room for anymore is companionship. Those she cares about, she tries to convert and those freebies are just her being a missionary to her faith.

So you should know this. She doesn't want to be saved. Your repeated attempts to free/buy/marry her are not welcome because if her life was that easy to fix then my girl's got herself a dilemma. If all this could be taken care of just that easily then the years of torture and abuse and violence aren't noble tests from her god but only ordinary misfortunes. If she could be 'saved' by the actions of a simple man while her god just ignored her, then what was it for? So all her gentle but repeated dismissals of you and your help aren't her being scared or brainwashed, it's her holding onto her faith. She has told you this. She needs what she does to be holy because she would die inside if it's not.

And speaking as her player, I don't appreciate it either. If your character could fix her then that means in some way, what she currently is, is broken and I'm wrong as her player to thwart you. I purposely took a common fantasy archetype and turned it into something different and I like her for it. Even as she is on a stage somewhere, dancing in a metal bikini for dollars, or on a stained mattress, thinking of her god, or on her knees, taking a beating, she is beautiful and noble and virtuous in a way most people can only hope to be.

So quit trying to be her hero. She already has one.

There have been posts like this before but perhaps because of the specific acts described, the post explodes with nearly two hundred comments. The very first comment has [info]guardian_yugi being frightened of her character but [info]2headed_chicken says she was making a point about the difference between the religious and the rational.

The bulk of the wank, however, takes place in this thread where [info]paperclipchains calls the OP's char a tired Mary Sue and refutes the OP's claim that she's subverting the patriarchy a fantasy stereotype. [info]f1ibbertigibbet wants us to think of the STDS, and [info]nocebo_response stands up for sodomy. [info]scattercat and [info]paperclipchains play the I'm rubber and you're glue game. In fact, those two apparently have history. The wank will not stop -- the OP even invokes Godwin's Law, has it pointed out, and then people argue about how Godwin's Law actually works.

There's also discussion of what rape is with bonus definitions of Gor and BDSM lifestylers, an example of what the OP is up against and a lot of people agreeing that any good-aligned char wouldn't be able to just ignore her sex slave's suffering. For bonus points, people discuss BDSM again, complete with personal anecdotes, compare the slave to a nun, wank about taking the power out of rape, and request she move it to the adult BRPS comm.

My default icon is weirdly inappropriate for this wank.

Um, wait. Couldn't her god be sending the "simple man" to get her out of this life because he/she has another plan for her now? That's almost as common a fantasy trope as the pious slave girl in the first place.

This sounds like really bad roleplaying, just because she's deliberately not interacting with the other players. Is there a GM in this game? I've seen players boom smited for far less. This is prime "orcs/undead/the terrasque come through and destroy the town material" if I've ever seen it.

This reminds me of the joke of the pious man whose town was flooding.

There was a valley with a river running through it. A peaceful town developed where the road crossed the river. Above the town, high in the valley, a huge hydro-electric dam had been built to supply electricity to a neighboring city. One day, engineers noticed a large crack in the dam and the river rising in its banks. They determined that the dam was about to break.

By the time the police and fire department had started notifying the villagers, the river had burst its banks and was flooding some of the nearby homes. A rescue dinghy stopped at one house where a man was sitting on the window sill.

"Quick!" they called, "Climb in the boat!"

"No, thank you," he replied. "I put my faith in the Lord."

Then, when the river had risen and the man was looking out of an upper window, a National Guard motor launch came along and tried to rescue him.

"No, thank you," he said again. "I put my faith in the Lord."

When the river had almost covered the house and the man was sitting on his roof, a helicopter came by.

"Quick! Grab this rope," they called, "You only have a few minutes before the dam collapses!"

He replied, "No, thank you. I put my faith in the Lord."

Then there was a sound like thunder and a great bubbling mass of water engulfed him.

When the man woke up, he was before God, ready for his final interview. The man looked at God and said, "What happened? I put my faith in you!"

God said, "I sent you a dinghy, I sent you a motor launch, I even sent you a helicopter. What more did you want?"

That's always been one of my favorite jokes. XD Though the last line I heard was, "That's what I want to know! I sent you a man, I sent you a boat, I even sent you a helicopter! Why are you dead?"

So much for God being omniscient.

I love how in these rants they never consider how the rescue thing might not be the player's thing, but that it might be IC for their character to try to rescue her at every possible moment, and that's bad roleplaying.

"Good aligned"? Wait, is this in a D&D game?

Does she get spells per day from this god? If not, she needs to drop that fucker and find a real deity. Maybe one that's not so much of a rape fan.

I would have thought so too, but I guess her god only sends bad things.

In any of the games I've been in, anyone pulling this sort of thing would get a smackdown either from the GM or the other players, not to mention I'm surprised no one's presented to the character that perhaps the rescuer might be from her diety to move her on to other things.

As it is, it smacks of too much enjoyment in wallowing in the misery.
