Random fact: despite earlier naturalists' beliefs that hedgehogs mated belly-to-belly, it turns out they do it in the same way most animals do; it's unclear whether or not the female flattens her prickles to help the male.

Don't thank me, thank Sir David Attenborough's series The Life of Mammals (which, I can assure you, has much more in it than just the quirky mating habits of various species).

	David Attenborough is the best thing ever and anything anyone needs to know can be learned from him. Also, Michael Palin of Python fame did a documentary on him and when I found that out (by walking in on it while my Dad was watching) I thought the world was going to explode from sheer concentrated cool.
