If milk is rape, does that make this prostitution?
The question:

Is it fair/right for a customer to order what we, at my store, call a "ghetto-latte"?

The "ghetto-latte" is ordering any size Iced Americano, with no water and half ice (This lady's drink is an Iced Venti, no water, half ice, Americano). She then takes the drink and goes to the condiments bar and adds her own half and half.

Seems reasonably simple, right?

Not something you'd expect to cause, say, a three-month, several-hundred comment long flamewar which would eventually get heated enough that comments would be closed?

Apparently, none of us know Starbucks that well.

That's why I added, "so they don't have to tip for a drink because they're asses."

There's a difference between ordering water because you want it, and ordering a glass of water with lemons, taking the table sugar and making lemonade, to save $2 off your meal, and then, and this is the important part, Not tipping for the drink. The waitress still has to work for it.

Here ends the lemon with water reading because I'm waaaaay too amused by your icon and I have to finish packing.

Ahhh, okay. Yeah, no jury-rigged lemonade for me. No lemons at all. That I can't blame a waiter for being pissed about.

Yeah. If I want to do something wacky with my beverage (like I want hot water w/ lemon and honey, which is a great throat soother), I explain what I want (and that I'm happy to pay for it) and if they don't charge me, I tip them an extra dollar.

See, this is why, in my family, we very specifically ask for water without the lemon. Well, that and the fact that the lemon is a bit much, really.

Hmmm... yes, I'd noticed many things meet with your disapproval.

But it's really, really okay for other people to like things and you don't, or at least, not to reply about every thing you don't like in every comment thread in every post.

(I fully expect later in this post's comments on various coffee condiments to see your thoughts on soy, so maybe I'm just spitting into the wind here.)

I once overfilled my bathtub because I was convinced I could finish my chapter of Watership Down before my bath was ready.

Alas, I was not as fast a reader as I thought I was, but the bunnies got out of the zombiewarren and all was well!
