If milk is rape, does that make this prostitution?
The question:

Is it fair/right for a customer to order what we, at my store, call a "ghetto-latte"?

The "ghetto-latte" is ordering any size Iced Americano, with no water and half ice (This lady's drink is an Iced Venti, no water, half ice, Americano). She then takes the drink and goes to the condiments bar and adds her own half and half.

Seems reasonably simple, right?

Not something you'd expect to cause, say, a three-month, several-hundred comment long flamewar which would eventually get heated enough that comments would be closed?

Apparently, none of us know Starbucks that well.

So we're all agreed then? Otf_wank hates Starbucks' coffee? Good. Now if someone would just add that to the charter...

Hmm, I don't care much for coffee, period, but I am partial to Starbuck's strawberry frappucino. Am I a traitor now?

Strawberry and green tea frappucinos are both made of bliss.

Oh god yes. And surprisingly, the green tea frap made with raspberry syrup instead of the melon is good as well. <33

green tea frappucino = a happy fuzzybluelogic. And since I can't be arsed to make one myself, I contentedly shell out the cash for a Starbucks one.

Mmm, extra icey strawberry frappuccinos are my favorite thing ever. Especially with an enormous dollop of whipped cream on the top. It's like a bazillion calories that I'm never going to work off, but holy shit they're so yummy.

And, also, I hate coffee. I'm also fond of hot chocolate poured over a half inch of whipped cream, and then topped off with another inch of whipped cream. I usually make them give me a grande cup for my tall hot chocolate, to make room for the w.c. It's the best thing ever when it's cold out, because the whipped cream counters the bitter mocha sauce. Yummmm.

Damn, now I crave both a strawberry frappucino (which they don't serve at the moment here) and hot chocolate.

Also, whipped cream is always the best thing.

Agreement? Not quite.

(I drink Starbucks lattes. However, I will allow that after my trip to Rome last month, every single coffee beverage I've had since then has been a disappointment. The Italians win at coffee.)

I have to say, though, that Starbucks's cappucino is the closest approximation to Italian cappucino that I've found over here in the US. And I'm Italian born and bred, so that's saying something.

Coffee's a whole other story: I have to brew that myself with my handy little mocha and Italian coffee my mom sends me in the mail, bless her. /elitism

Charbucks is crap unless you like liquid candy bars in a cup that have barely a passing aquaintance with a cup of coffee so I'll happily cast my vote against it.

Coincidentally, that's the only kind of coffee I *do* like. Thus, a solid vote for Starbucks (and also for Dunkin' Donuts "regular," by which they mean "two creams and six packets of sugar") here.

Hey, more plain coffee for me!
;)

My sister only drinks Cuban-style coffee, which is basically sugar with some coffee in it. I think the only reason she doesn't drink Starbucks frappadrinkas is because she doesn't like milk.

Really? All the times I've had hot chocolate at Starbucks, it tasted like they only waved a tin of cocoa at it.

Unless you like that part, I guess.

I like Starbucks' hot chocolate.

Me too! Although it's better at some places than others.

On a slight tangent, people who have seen me order hot chocolate in coffee shops seem to think "awww, isn't she sweet and healthy" and then get O_o when I chase a maximum strength No-Doz with a drink of Jolt cola. I just don't like the taste of coffee, okay?
