Anthony Bourdain writes up a scathing indictment of the James Beard Awards. The comments start off mostly positive, with little to no wanking about Bourdain's observations on Latinos in the culinary world.

Until Jacqueline gets involved. Suddenly, everything is about sexism!

The sexism debate rages back and forth for a bit before Sorcha brings the smack down (and the funny).

But Suzy the Pastry Chef isn't done yet! First she whines, then she pulls out the good ol' "I did it for the LULZ!" excuse. No one believes her.

Almost immediately after that, Jenn/Tikka Masala arrives, her little heart bleeding for all the underprivileged souls of the world, not just the Latino male chefs. Sorcha fires back and Suzy makes a return appearance on Jenn's side. Sorcha finally throws in the towel, tired of dealing with "the lurkers support me in e-mail" Jenn and "go blow Bourdain" Suzy.

This is why you don't wank in the kitchen, people. You get splooge in all the food.

People coming north from Mexico and further South are not the only people in the world who have had it tough - THAT notion is what I'm disliking so very much. The notion that white people never ever ever have as much pain as other races - that's just inaccurate in so many ways.

You know, I once wondered whether a statement I'd seen several times- that in 99.99% of discussions about race, someone (white) will attempt to twist it around and say, "But what about the WHITE people?"- was true.

Now, I have no doubt that it is.

Argh. Okay, yes, sometimes it does seem like people are arguing that white people never have it bad. Which is untrue, because of course, you can be white and have the shittiest, most fucked up life ever, and be non-white and have pretty fantastic one.

But as groups? I'm sorry, you get *negative* points in the opression war for being white. And when people talk about race, they are usually talking about it as a whole and as it functions in society, not on an individual, your-own-personal-experience level. So, from one whitey to another, quoted-poster-person, SHUT THE FUCK UP.
