Hot cross bun wank.
Found on melbournemaniac, specifically this entry. An itty bitty wank about hot cross buns. nodine posts a poll asking if hot cross buns are lame or awesome.

'...and it's not like the cross on the top adds to the taste or is particularly... interesting? ('pointless').

I remember at one point, I think it was a radio station, ringing up bakeries to ask what the cross was made of since it appeared to do nothing. Just more dough, generally. I find them rather unpleasant. Beyond that they just... have. no. point.'

The part that really made it for me was in the comments:

'Maybe it's the taste of bland blind Christianity becoming rampant consumerist monotony and choking my spirit, dulling its flavour?'

How can a frigging hot cross bun make someone so angry?

Edit: [info]wankaholic has kindly pointed out that Nodine posted to stupid_free as well, outing herself as stupid but blaming it on an earlier wank in the same community.

Look, kids! It's the circle of wank, it spooges us all! Ew...

And all I can think of is the old poem, 'The Walloping Window-Blind'.

but the cook was Dutch, and behaved as such
for the food her served the crew
Was a number of tons of hotcrossed buns
Chopped up with sugar and glue.

The cross is made of frosting, at least where I come from. Hence, it's tasty and delicious. I agree with southerngaelic, here - there is NO call for wank over delicious pastry!

They're hot cross freaking buns. Sure, hundreds of years ago the cross probably represented something. Nowadays it's there because that's how you make hot cross freaking buns.

Jesus. So to speak.

I had to google what a hot cross bun was. I kept getting the strange mental image that people were complaining about a shuriken style cross-shaped dough pastry that you could throw at other people.

The real things look much more delicious than the ones in my mind, though.

One a penny, two a penny
Hot cross buns!

Give them to your sons!

What a thoroughly dislikeable woman. When I read her post all I hear is a whining, irritating voice. She probably doesn't really talk like that but it's all I hear.

I'm going to enjoy some hot-cross choc buns now. (I prefer fruit ones but sadly I can't have them cause of my IBS.)

My favorite line:
Easter eggs are usually hollow and take up too much space.

I've lived in some fairly small spaces, but that extra 2 cubic inches or so of air inside the egg? Which is an issue for maybe ten minutes anyway, since I, you know, eat the chocolate? Not a problem.

What does this princess do when a pea gets into her mattress?

Easter eggs are usually hollow and take up too much space. The ones not made of 'cheap crappy chocolate' are overpackaged and irritate the shit out of me in other ways, because then they take up EVEN MORE SPACE.

Malakian: Chocolate at Easter sucks. Ugh. It's the one time of the year that Cadbury fails.

GASP! Oh, no, you din't! Give me all the Cadbury Cream eggs in the world and I might be satisfied. Yum.

That being said, what really irks me is Nodine's attitude towards her mother bringing her Easter treats. Apparently her mother is putting a matriarchal strangle-hold on her via chocolate bunnies. The horror, the horror.

My mother went to a Catholic university. One of her instructors was a nun, extremely bitchy and strict, but apparently a total hottie as well. So they called her the "hot cross nun".

Okay, okay, it's not all that funny a story, but I will never have another chance to bring it up.

CARBS KILLED MY ENTIRE FAMILY.

No, sincerely. I woke up one morning and everyone was lying in the kitchen dead with bread crusts all around them. I went to make a baked potato while I waited for the ambulance, and what did I find?

No potatoes. No bread. All the pasta was missing from the boxes.

So you will have to forgive me if I don't see how this whole wank is supposed to be FUNNY in any way.

I don't like hot cross buns, but my mother does.

My mother, incidentally, gave me a chocolate monkey for easter, alongside my dad giving me a more traditional egg. I've eaten the egg, but am unable to eat the monkey. So it's still sitting on my bookshelf. But I really love it a lot, and appreciate the fact that both my parents gave me Easter gifts.

So, er, in conclusion, WTF is wrong with nodine?

Mmm, hot cross buns.

On the plus side, I now know the song actually goes "one half-penny, two a penny". I always figured the vendor was just incapable of selling his tasty pastry treats at full price.
