I remember being very good in public, for two reasons: 1) because I was the oldest of the grandchildren, I spent far more time around adults than kids, and while this utterly alienated me from my peers, I got along grand with adults. 2) Because my parents had a simple policy: you throw a fit in the store, we leave the store. No, really. They do not *need* to be there right now (no matter what it was) and wouldn't tolerate that kind of thing. Noise, sure. My family's fucking noisy. But kicking and screaming fits? Fuckin' no.
