Childfree vs Metaquotes vs Stupid_free vs 'George Carlin' of the Furry Internets
(moved from [info]clairvoyantwank

Over on Metaquotes</s>, [info]2_gryphon is quoted with an amusing -- and relatively benign -- retelling of his verbal sparring with an irate father.

And then a gleeful [info]featherypony happily comments that they'd love to share the post with [info]childfree.

Power Word: KNEE-JERK

[info]mayavada swoops in and lashes out at the OP and the mention of [info]childfree.

Ready. Set. Wank.

Enjoy!

Bonus: It's been reported back to [info]childfree.

And they're off!

EDIT: This wank report has been brought to you by four cups of coffee and all the jelly beans in my kid's Easter basket. *gibber* *gibber*

EDIT II: It's now made it to [info]stupid_free, [info]customers_suck, [info]cs_snark and [info]cf_snark

Good times

I remember being very good in public, for two reasons: 1) because I was the oldest of the grandchildren, I spent far more time around adults than kids, and while this utterly alienated me from my peers, I got along grand with adults. 2) Because my parents had a simple policy: you throw a fit in the store, we leave the store. No, really. They do not *need* to be there right now (no matter what it was) and wouldn't tolerate that kind of thing. Noise, sure. My family's fucking noisy. But kicking and screaming fits? Fuckin' no.

So; the question is this: If my children (I have twins) are being utter shits in the store, and I leave my cart, next to the 'customer service desk' and take my bratty children out of the store, and home, does that make me a good parent or a sucky customer?

Note: I ask, because you're the only one I've ever seen admit their parents did that.

(My mom did the remove-from-situation thing too.)

Hmm, that would be annoying for the people at the store, since they have to put all the stuff in your cart away... but if you're leaving it by the service desk thingy (and perhaps explain the situation to the person staffing it?), at least they know about it and can put away perishable (e.g. milk, frozen food) items away as soon as possible. Probably the best way to deal with a bad situation. I worked in retail for a summer, and I would have much rather put away a full cart than stood there at the cash register, ringing up items with a kid having a tantrum at full blast a couple feet away.

Quite frankly, it makes you a good parent AND a good customer. But that's my opinion. ^^
