More Cuteoverload wank
I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet.

Yesterday on Cute Overload a series of pictures featuring a fat tuxedo cat draped over a couch.

On the second comment involves how unhealthy it is for a cat to be so fat.

Over 400 comments later ranging from it's still a healthy weight for a cat, personal anecdotes, feline and human obesity and vegetarianism.

I think my personal favorite is

2. I don't want to get into the whole Darwin thing, but there is only about a 2% difference in our DNA and the DNA of monkeys. Monkeys are vegans.

But apes eat like little monkeys and termites and stuff?

Not to mention the fact that it's chimps we're the closest related to, not monkeys.

Yep; we're 2.4 or 2.6% different from chimpanzees. Alas, physical anthro class was too long ago for me to remember accurate numbers.

I wish we were more closely related to monkeys. I need a tail.

As a matter of fact, I did. So prompt. I love it.

Yeah, and most monkeys are not "vegan"- even Colubus, which eat leaves, also eat insects and birds eggs when they find them.

Colobus.

Some days I despair of ever spelling anything right again.

If it makes you feel better, I still refer to them as Christopher Columbus monkeys?

Regardless, they are by far the most snootily elegant of all monkeys. The aristocracy of the monkey-house, if you will.

I've seen a video of a monkey eating a nest of baby squirrels.

Our teacher put it on the test as a question phrased: "In the video, a __________ ate ________." and despite the fact that there were about ten species of animals eating different foods in that video, the monkey eating baby squirrels was the only *right* answer. Even if you correctly named a different animal eating a different food from the video, it didn't count.

Should have known from how she went on about how "OMG SHOCKING!" it was that monkies would eat the poor baaaaaaaaaaby squirrels.

Hence why I found the comment hysterical and became my favorite.

Well, on the other hand, you have gorillas, whose meat consists of not much more than termites, whereas the rest of their diet is pure veggies and fruit.
