any nappy-headed hos in the house?
Recently, MSNBC talkshow host Don Imus referred to the Rutger's women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos" while on the air. The story is posted on the AOL Sports Blog, and the comments feature results in a landslide of delicious quotes as folks make their opinions known.

Rick: Don Imus hit the nail on the head by saying what he said. He wasn't being a racist but pointing out the truth. If the Rutgers basketball team doesn't want him to make commnets then don't get tattoes. They brought it on themselves by dressing the way they do and it is their fault. They are just too sensitive and can't handle the truth. Thumbs up to Don Imus!

Greg: He should have called them nappy head dikes instead.

DoughRayMe: Every "nappy headed" black male superstar athlete should speak up in defense of their women but I suppose those guys would NEVER bite the hands that feed them=white America. Plus, they're too busy fucking white women!

Brett: no one likes women's basketball. and if they do, they are wrong. that is the point of all this. women's basketball sucks. tarasi is amazing. lauren jackson is hot. candace parker is hot. she looks like beyonce and she is very very very good. but women's basketball still sucks. margo didek is 7 foot 3 and can't dunk. lisa leslie is a bore and she looks like a man. so does cynthia fowles. man! does she look like a guy! wow! it's shocking!

there are tons of white girls who are between 6'3" and 6'7" and my god are they a bunch of ugly horse faces. oh yeah, and they're are tons and tons of lesbians. like 75 percent. and i'm not talking hot lesbians. gross lesbians. and all the coaches look like billy jean king.

now rutgers has given us all yet another reason to hate women's basketball: some of the players are thugs. it's a real turnoff when women act like thugs. i don't even like it when candace parker starts jawing and acting aggressive, and she's hot. when candace gets all pumped up it makes me think, "poor sheldon williams, this has got to be killing his libido."

I'm still reeling from the fact that there are apparently 'tons of white girls between 6'3 and 6'7' in the US. Since when? The US is a country of short-arses.

Seriously. I'm 5' tall on a GOOD day. Those chicks (wherever they are) would be a foot and a half taller than me, and honestly, I just don't see that that often! Where are these tons of amazonian white women hiding?!?

Don't look at me. I'm 5' 6"-ish, and I thought I was *tall*. Well, at least, not short.

Not to imply you don't exist ; p Just that I meet far more women around my height or shorter than I do women who are taller.

I went to school with one. She was 6'6" and I was 5'3", and we both had the same name. Our friends distinguished us as "Short [name]" and "Tall [name]"

Apparently her parents met at some sort of mixer for tall people. Whole family was made of giants.

The thing you have to remember about the U.S. is that every single body type physically possible in a human being (and a couple which aren't without massive surgery) exists here, probably in large enough quantity to easily fill a hundred basketball teams at least. You're just not necessarily going to notice because they're spread all over a large country with a large population.

(Your comment reminds me, however, that someday I want to go to the Netherlands just to experience the joy of being average height for the first time in my life.)

Well, that depends on how you define large population. Reminds me of how many US-Americans greatly overestimate the sie of their population as compared to European countries like Germany, France and the UK. Not necessarily refering to you, of course, but the US basically is a large country with a relatively small population for that size when compared to many regions on other continents.

Oh, yeah, sorry, shoddy word choice on my part. I mean large in the sense of "300 million people is a hefty number of people to be under one government, and ranks third largest in the world until Indonesia catches up to us", not large in the sense of "crowded".

Western Michigan, right? :)

My boss, at 5ft 8, is the shortest in her family (that's where she's from)

For real. Almost all of the women on my mother's side of the family are 5'11" or taller, but that's the EXCEPTION not the norm around here.

Dunno where most of them are, but my godmom's cousin (okay, fine, I think she'd technically be like third cousin or whatever) was 6'0 before she hit high school (and wasn't done growing) and played basketball. Her grandad (godmom's first cousin), and his son were about as tall. So was the chick's mom.

My stepdad is 6'4, his ex-wife is nearly as tall (I think 6'2) and looked like a linebacker. Their kids are at minimum 5'8 right now. The oldest girl is like 5'10, the next one is like 6'0, and the bratlet (boy) is the 5'8 and still growing at 17.

Where I went to high school, 5'10" was about average for girls. Went to college and I feel like I landed on Lilliput.

Sorta-same here, except I went from feeling short to being just about the right height. It really depends where you are.

(Needs to get a copy of the posters for the University of Montana, Missoula, women's basketball and soccer teams, for they are mostly very blonde and extremely tall)

e.e; I'm Canadian. When I went to school in Quebec, my 5'6" ish was tall, taller than my friends, who were 5'1" to 5'3" and wore heels that still put me as slightly taller. When I came to Ontario, the shortest of my friends was 5'7". I felt midget ish.

Most of my family's women are short, though. My great-grandmother was 5'8" apparently, but she was english.
