Photobucket vs. Myspace!
Apparantly, Myspace has made it impossible to hotlink Photobucket images or videos and use on your Myspace profile.

The Powers of Photobucket are not happy about this and post in their company blog

Of course, there's lots of wank in comments.

The articulate ones:
IF U LIMIT PHTO PEOPLE WILL LEAVE MY SPACE AND GO TO OTHER SITES THAT DO NOT HAVE RECTRICTONS

The I'm-gonna-pimp-MY-site-now ones:
I am trying to get my own social network going that I hope will outperform myspace-but no members yet, and it will rely heavily on third party video/image/audio feeds.
I haven't tried embeded a photobucket video into it as I haven't seen one yet, but that would only take a few minute to fix if given the format.

The [not-really-related-but-disliked-political-faction] comparsion:
Wow and the fascism train of myspace picks up more speed! That what happens when a good independent idea gets bought by a corporation!

i did not know we lived in communist russia.
what a f ing joke. tom you are overstepping your boundries. of the people by the people for the people! don't forget who made you rich... US! very typical of ever good thing, it has to come to an end. i hope you
( myspace/tom) reconsider the error of your ways. FOAD!!!!

etcetera and so on.

Anyone knows if MySpace has said something about this? I can't find anything there, so I haven't even looked.

Ah. I wouldn't know. "Street cred" is another thing I don't really pay any attention to.

(I-... I shop at hot topic... If you're lucky it's possible to find nifty things on their clearance rack...)

(I used to, but then I uh...got fatter. :( Woes.)

(I don't have any issues with Hot Topic, but my brothers do- they are usually a good measure of issues of "street cred." My one brother disdains Hot Topic and Linkin Park and rails against yuppies; yet he is a white boy who listens to rap music and wears shit from American Eagle. I'd say something about it, but he's so cute when he's stupid.)

I am completely incapable of understanding why rap is so popular. Do teens these days really like hearing the same three songs over and over again under different titles from different artists?

Judging by how high the bass is in the cars that drive by, I don't think they're actually hearing anything.

Don't ask me. Based on the way the bass from my neighbors' music drives me into an unthinking rage, I'm starting to think that rap music itself is some kind of government plot. Follow me, here: they are creating a band of everyday people who, when primed by a pre-determined rap code, will become cold-blooded assassins of terrifying ferocity.

Have you ever seen Zoolander? At the time I thought it was puerile garbage, but maybe it was really a warning.

At least, that's what I plan to tell the judge after I leap over to the parking garage across the alley, stab Mr. Rap-Thumping Car 57 times with a Bic pen, and bury his body in a shallow grave by the railroad tracks.

I'm picturing Mulder saying this with the little hand motions, and it has made my afternoon.

Would Scully say "Fo' shizzle?"

No, we don't *clings to the last five months of teendom with despair*

Of course, those who don't get their bass fix from techno, so I might not be the one to disprove da stereotypes *cranks up Benny Benassi*

My students insist they are all different songs. When they do, I'm reminded of that time when Vanilla Ice claimed he hadn't stolen the bass line from "Under Pressure." ("it's got that extra ding in it, it's totally different!"

But that's what Torrid is for! That is, if you're a female-type person.

Oh yeah, I always forget about them.

:)

I also don't buy much casual stuff any more- since I'm not a student and I have a "real job" where I have to wear a suit every day. Bleah.

I *wish* there was a Hot Topic where I lived. Their clothes are EXACTLY my style (subcultures be damned) and the staff at the HT I've been are the sweetest people ever.

I actually found a band t-shirt from someone I've heard of there. It made me so unreasonably happy. ♥
