You call that a massacre? That's not a massacre...
Some people will wank about ANYTHING. I shouldn't be so surprised, considering the wank that happened over Hurricane Katrina.

However... Just so you all know, the incident at Virginia Tech is NOT a massacre, it's just a shooting.

And a quote from commenter spaceworrier: Pardon me, but a massacre implies something like gutting them alive at the same time and laughing and not being a complete nutjob. A massacre also usually involves a bunch of people, and it's not my fault that people can't use vocab properly these days.

Because, like, you know, these things are IMPORTANT and you plebeians should all be using proper English to describe horrific acts of violence.

Also, the follow-up of zomg I said something you didn't like! Complete with 'It's my journal and I'll cry if I want to' mentality.

Look, I don't want to be a bitch about this, but:

It is pretty close to impossible for any wank relating to what happened yesterday at VT to be funny. This is not "His wife? A horse" awful, this is "Over thirty people are dead because of a crazy dude with a couple pistols".

It is not funny. Wank related to it? Not funny. I don't care if it's mostly just some asshole wanking about words, it's not appropriate for OTF, and it needs to not be making the rest of us miserable.

Please, for the love of god everyone, do not post VT shootings-related wanks, not even if Jesus fucking Christ Himself is in the comments having a flamewar with Muhammad while Buddha posts porn!

At the risk of sounding like I'm trying to start a fight and/or am a callous asshole, I think it's worth remembering that past tragedies have led to some classic wanks that were very appropriate for OTF. Think London bombing. Think Katrina.

Granted, this particular report isn't very wanky or funny (and is certainly no brn_eyd_grl and her small dog of DOOOM), but I definitely disagree with the statement that there is no way any OTF worthy wank could come out of this tragedy.

But, you know what, my thoughts on yaoi probably don't belong here...so I'm taking this over to fandom_discuss. Join me if you like.

The Katrina wank really wasn't funny. BJR was a handy punching bag that the wanka community took out their anger and grief on; it wasn't a humorous incident.

Some of the London Bombing wank was indeed pretty funny, but I think the tone of public reaction to that was different from the start - maybe it was the Britishness making a difference or something, or that it didn't involve a school, or something.

Meanwhile, in Iraq today 149 people were blown up in car bombings.

But I bet it won't make make as much coverage in Western News as what happened in Virginia. Not funny at all.

In all fairness, a lot of wanks here and on the other FW comms seem to be less "Ha, ha! Look at how hard they're fapping," and more "Dude...what an asshole s/h/it is," which this one could definitely be considered to be, regardless of the subject matter.

Well the wank may not have been funny but I find that hardly the fault of the subject matter. And I for one am not depressed. Oh well.
