Short and sweet...
[info]tigerwolf informs the denizens of [info]bad_service that Mexicans don't speak real Spanish.

People disagree.

EDIT: It's also made stupid_free, of course.

I'm really charmed by his assumption that, because some French people mock Québec French speakers, it is perfectly valid to say that Québec French isn't really French.

Hahaha, I know, right?

(As I am from Quebec, I could be insulted, but meh, [info]tigerwolf doesn't deserve that kind of attention.)

I must say my first reaction was "mange dla marde/fuck you", then realized it was only him and shouldn't bother getting worked up about it.

Ouais. Il est un connard. Aussi, il pense qu'il a un cul qui se lave.

(Did I say that right? My French is rusty.)

Babelfish: Ouais. He is a jerk. As, it thinks as it has a bottom which is washed.

But is it boiled?

(The only possible problem I have with that [and you're going to laugh at my logic] is "Il est un connard." I want to say that it's "Il est connard," because I want to treat connard as if it's a profession *L*)

Quick, quick, be distracted by Julia Murney acting like a dinosaur :D

I was charmed to discover, in the course of doing my French homework, that there's a Québecois expression basically translating to "big car, small penis."

Please share! I've never come across that. We studied French French in uni. They would sometimes show us movies and TV shows made in Quebec and go, "Do you hear the accent? THERE! RIGHT THERE!"

Heh. Keep in mind that my French assignment was "Go to this Wikipedia page with French proverbs and pick a couple."

Grosse Corvette, petite quéquette. Wiki says it is a "typicaly Quebecois saying," so it might be totally untrue, but it makes me giggle!

Parisians also make fun of the French spoken in the Languedoc and Alsace, and... well, anywhere outside the Ile de France. This doesn't make them any less francophone.

But, then, Tigerwolf=dumbass.

I thought it was the duty of Parisians to mock everyone else in the universe.
When they're not too le tired, of course.

Well, that's half of it. The other duty of Parisians is to ~be~ mocked by everybody else in the universe.

My French prof is Parisian. It's ~so~ hard not to poke fun at her sometimes. If she didn't have the ability to fail me in a heartbeat, I would.

I remember one time in university we introduced one of our Quebecois friends to a another friend who had grown up in Seychelles. Within moments they started mocking French accents from around the world, much to our collective bewilderment. Good times.

I'm pretty sure people outside of Paris make fun of Parisian dialects/accents, as well, though.

I mean, it's not as if spoken French in general were anywhere close to "real" French at all, period.
Either that, or I lack some serious listening comprehension skillZ.

Everyone needs to see the movie Good Cop, Bon Cop, simply because it's hilarious. I strongly suspect people who live by the Quebec/Ontario border and who are bilingual will particularly get it. It had my friends and I in stitches.
