Not sure whether this should go on f_w, so just to make sure:

GOTHWANK!

Mal (nostias) posts adverts for his girlfriend's club in the whitby community on LJ. The whitby community is dedicated to stuff about the Whitby Goth Weekend, as the name might suggest, and Mal's club ... is in London.

"a) Is that in Whitby? If not, it should probably go in one of the London goth or events communities - as per the community info, this is the unofficial Whitby Goth Weekend community, and unrelated ads and announcements should go elsewhere.
b) Please put flyers under cut tags. Especially when there's lots of them, huge fonts and maps too. (See community info again!)

Many of us keep an eye on this community in order to keep in touch with plans for WGW, and we'd rather not have large unavoidable flyers popping up all over our screens - especially when they're not relevant to WGW. Ta!" - Quoth d_floorlandmine.

"Deal with it, I deal with you nerds and posers all the time." - Quoth nostias.

And lo, it begins.

ETA: BAHLEETED, but some of the funneh has been reproduced here

ETA2: Better caps here, here and here

If there is a less-gothy place name in the world than Whitby, I've yet to hear it.

Ah, but ... *dons goffnerd hat*

It is also the place where Dracula's ship first arrived, lending it a pretty gofftastic air. Also, great big abbey, whalebone gate of much spookiness and it gets dark early there because it's Yorkshire and if I were the sun I wouldn't want to shine on Yorkshire either. Although the Dracula connection is why they have the convention there, I hear.

/goffnerd hat.

Sort of. It started as a regular goth meetup, but the Dracula connection definitely helped:

Heh, well, I only went the once and decided I wasn't GOFFCORE enough to go that far out of London in October. ;) Good to know it has a FAQ though!

Don't hate on Yorkshire. It's not our fault we're better than the rest of the UK. D:

Pfft, Yorkshire is Devon minus the ice-cream.

(I had a bit of a language barrier problem with the information staff at York station and it sparked a vendetta, basically. :D Never let it be said that I am not capable of holding a grudge beyond all rationality.)

*sporfle*

I'm prepared to forgive your grudge on the grounds that your icon is the best thing I've seen all week.

Somehow the confluence between your icon and the icon above it is cracking my shit up.

This may be because it's 4 in the morning and I just got done washing up from a fucking Cthulhu LARP.

Yorkshire? That's a funny way to spell East Sussex....

True. It's also near a town called Pickering, which is in fact a less gothy name, so I'm pretty much just generally wrong. Oh well.

However, quite near Pickering and Whitby, there's a lovely town called Goathland. Way, way more goth.

Milton Keynes.

(Although it does cause despair and a desire to slit your wrists...)
