Teens see Lesbian book, Father sues Library, Wank Follows (bad pun intended)
The Morning News posts this story about a Man who is suing a library $20,000 and demanding that the hiring of the library director over The Whole Lesbian Sex Book claiming: "My sons were greatly disturbed by viewing this material and this matter has caused many sleepless nights in our house."

*pauses for obvious jokes*

Readers of the article can post in response and of course some wank follows.

ETA: Washington Post has an article with a small but wanking comment section.

This frequently happens with books about Sex People Don't Want To Admit Happens, I guess. When I was in grad school one of my colleagues studied soc. of sexuality and was always kvetching that Kinsey had disappeared from every library he tried. I wonder if something similar happened with your library.

I have to admit to preferring the idea that curious young'uns got to them.

Heh. I've got to assume that at least some disappear because people are too embarassed to actually buy it.

My local library used to have certain books locked in a closet, and a $20 (refundable upon the return of the book, of course) deposit was required to take them out, because they disappeared so often.

The only one I remember being there was called Teen Witch.

Yeah, the books on witchcraft and the occult tend to disappear from public libraries. It's either kids who're embarrassed to check them out or don't want their parents to find out, or people who think the books are Teh Evil and steal them to keep anyone else from using them.
