Teens see Lesbian book, Father sues Library, Wank Follows (bad pun intended)
The Morning News posts this story about a Man who is suing a library $20,000 and demanding that the hiring of the library director over The Whole Lesbian Sex Book claiming: "My sons were greatly disturbed by viewing this material and this matter has caused many sleepless nights in our house."

*pauses for obvious jokes*

Readers of the article can post in response and of course some wank follows.

ETA: Washington Post has an article with a small but wanking comment section.

Why are there people saying that "it doesn't matter how the boys got the book"? That really does not compute. Even at 14 and 16, surely there is still free will, right? The evil leftist liberal types didn't cunningly stash the lesbian sex textbook to try and ensnare perfectly innocent teens into the web of evil and sin? Honestly.

The library also has books about clowns. Are they okay because no parent has ever burst into their teenager's room and caught them in the floppy shoes and lightbulb nose? BTW, three honks on the bicycle horn means 'just a minute, mom!'

BTW, three honks on the bicycle horn means 'just a minute, mom!'

My brain has interpreted that sentence in a way that is hysterical.

Me, I'm having a flashback to the time I was in a strip club and a dozen clowns came in.

...I wish I was making that up. I'm still traumatized.

Is your icon from the Frustrated Mario vid on Google? It looks familiar.

Yes, it is. [info]jira made a number of icons on the random_lounge post the other day and I decided to swipe this one. It was my favorite part.

Nice. Oh, and thanks for the link; I'm gonna go see the other icons in case there's something I wanna yank.

Well, okay, so in Seattle we have this yearly event called Seafair. Very wholesome, family-friendly sorta fing. With clowns.

So apparently, to kind of balance out the wholesomeness or something, these clowns make a round of Seattle strip clubs. In costume.

The foregoing is just what I heard. However, I happened to be at a particularly seedy and ill-reputed Seattle strip club (Rick's, for those of you who live here—you know, the one whose owner has been accused of bribery? Yeah, that one) with my boyfriend and some other friends, one of whom was my former band's guitar player and who had started off the surreality of the evening by being greeted by name when we walked in.

(He asked us: "Do you think I come in here too much?" Us: "Uh, yeah, dude.")

So we're sitting at a table, chatting with one of the dancers who was sorta gothy (as were we), when all of a sudden a dozen clowns walk in.

I've sort of blocked out what followed, because the only thing more wrong than the sight of a clown getting a lap dance from a stripper is a clown getting a lap dance from two strippers simultaneously, but, dear lord. The phallic balloon animals. The...honking...from unexpected places. The mere experience of your eyes wandering from the stage and settling on...a clown.

After about half an hour, one of them blew a whistle and they rounded up and left, presumably to descend upon another such establishment.

At which point one of my friends leaned across the table and said, "You just know they all arrived in the same car."

The end.

To add to that, a number of people reply that this book has no business being in a school, where it wasn't or that it should have been kept in the adult books section, which it was. READ PEOPLE.

I think reading(or lack thereof) seems to be part of the problem there.
Adult literacy FTW!

Because obviously if the boys bought it on amazon.com or some bookstore, he has full right to sue amazon or the bookstore. It doesn't matter how his children got the book when he should have been watching his own kids but wasn't someone must pay!

Well, y'know. They're 14 and 16, so presumably they're old enough to go to the library by themselves.

It reminds me a lot of the recent Mike Daisey incident (if you're not familiar with what happened, scroll to the bottom of his post for a link to the original account). Very similar worldview, it seems to me. Or someone trying to ban Alison Bechdel's Fun Home from the library because it's a comic book so it must be for kids but it has OMGTEHGAYSEX in it WTFBBQ!!!!
