Uh, I don't actually know all that far back, but on one side I'm descended from Irish royalty, but then, so is everyone else. In recent family history, my Irish great-grandfather came to the US illegally through Canada when he had to leave Ireland very, very quickly as he was an "ambulance driver" for the IRA. My mother's parents are both Jews from Vienna, and her father, after his family managed to leave in 1938 in exhcange for giving everything they owned to the Nazis, joined the US military (mostly as an interrogator/interpreter), and then after the war ran the Munich railway for a while. We also still have the gun he got off a Nazi officer he captured.
My Italian ancestors just came to the US because they were poor. And boring. And short.
