Well I tried checking the memories but it's not there. So I'll try from what I remember.

Quick background: in CF lingo a bingo is a comment or argument that is said to them in response to their decision to not have children i.e. "You're young you'll change your mind" or "You're selfish to deny your SO/parents kids/grandchildren" And in response to if they show annoyance to displays of bad parenting/misbehaving/annoying children., "it's so haaaaaaaaard to be a parent, you don't understand" joke being that they hear them so often they can fill a bingo card.

At it's core the cf comm is a rant community, supposedly a safe place for childfree to rant without hearing the bingos. Parents were allowed but not particularly welcomed and not supposed to argue against the rants or indicate that the members shouldn't get annoyed by things.

Last year a member made a post ranting against some children who annoyed her at a fireworks display(she expect children, but one of them spent the time screaming right in her ear, can't quite remember why she didn't move probably had a good view, and iirc she didn't say or do anything to the child, just ranted afterwards)

One of the parents came in with a bingo, OP got offended and there was a huge blow-up in the comments, but the real meltdown came when none of the offending parents were banned despite acting against the rules of the comm. At that point a lot of childfree members left the comm for cf_hardcore because they felt their safe place wasn't safe or theirs anymore.

And that's it in a nutshell.

Actually from what I remember she did move eventually, after she realised the kid wasn't going to be quiet - her mother stayed where she was though, & at the end of the display reported that the kid had kept screaming. IIRC the OP was actually bitching at the parents rather than the child - they speculated that the child might have some sort of autistic spectrum disorder, or other condition that might affect how it reacts to the world, & the rant was directed at the parents for either a) not disciplining the kid (if it was just being a little shit), or b) not removing the kid to a quieter location so it could calm down (if it did have a condition of some kind).

I think she moved away from that kid and sat in front of another batch of kids. Then she got mad because the second set weren't quiet during the fireworks.

...Quiet? During fireworks? During big, bright, flashy things that go BOOM very loudly?

*face-palm*

What exactly are you supposed to be quiet *for*? Even if there's music, it's usually so loud that you have to shout to be heard by the person sharing your picnic blanket.

It's like asking for someone to be quiet at a rock concert.

I'll have you know I ask people at rock concerts to be quiet all the time. I mean, God! I'm trying to hear the music!

Absolutely true story here - I had to do that once. I was at a Robbie Williams show last year and there was a group of females not far from me having a conversation, pitched loud enough to be heard over the music and the crowd. And THAT, my friend, took some doing.

I mean, of course, why NOT pay eighty bucks to see a show and then yak all through it?

I found it - taking a gamble that the poster was American, so I tried looking in the calender at entries from around July 4th on here & the CF comm: http://www.journalfen.net/community/otf_wank/443965.html

Mod post in CF where the mod fans the flames of wank by telling everyone that it's all the meeeen CF people's fault & the parents were perfectly nice & courteous & didn't break any comm rules OMG:
http://community.livejournal.com/childfree/7662102.html

Bonus mod backpeddling lulz where the mod from the above post tries to make out that the pro-parent mod decree was an error - apparently they totally never said that & it was all a result of bad HTML (well I guess 'the lurkers support me in email' & 'it was a social experiment' are just soooo passé...):

Hey, I reported that one too. I guess maybe I am the only poster of CF wank
