Remember, people should ask each other out. If someone doesn't ask you out, it means they don't like you.

Oh stupid_free. So unpredictable, yet still I know just what you're gonna do.

"If he's not asked you out yet, he's probably not going to."

If she had only said that, instead of "if he doesn't ask you out, he doesn't like you", it would have been far less stupid.

Or even if she'd said later that she'd worded that poorly and what she meant was....

But no! That would be a sign of weakness, you know.

I get a weird analytic-philosophy vibe from her -- "I define 'like' in such a way that if one person does not ask another person out then they do not 'like' that person, and thus I am right by definition."

Oh lord, please don't give her to us! *Weeps for poor abused discipline*

Sorry, I think "abusing the analytic philosophy people" is a requirement for my degree. French and comparative lit.

I definitely read that as "contraceptive lit". Because I clearly spend far too much time on teh intarwebz.

Hmm. What would contraceptive lit be? Really bad porn? Anything dull enough to put you to sleep in five pages?

Chick lit where the heroine, after marrying one of her many whacky love interests, settles down and begins shopping with her best friend for accessories for the new baby. Bestsellers they may be, but they'd turn anyone sane off having kids if that's all one read.

Chick lit full stop.

Fixed!

There are some gems among the dross in chick lit, but man, it's just not worth wading through. Your average chick lit book will kill any drive I have except the drive to put the book through a wood chipper.

Yeah, when you define your whole universe according to taste, it is impossible to be wrong. By definition.
