In apology for having to eat my hat, I present you this piece of work.

There was a meme that went around LJ. It measured your "coolness" factor, among other things.

The creator of the meme decided that it was too good an opportunity to pass up, and used it for unscrupulous purposes goatse.

People are unhappy, to say the least.

Edit: I should add that as of right now (1:38 AM EST), the post is still safe for work. I can't guarantee where the links in it might lead you to, though.

Yea, but why does your friend need your real name and number?

It's a meme? You do that sort of thing on meme's. I didn't do it because I don't do meme's but I see them posted all the time with that sort of question (Name, age etc.) I've never really gotten the draw of the meme myself. I only post the funny ones and those are usually random anyway.

You don't normally give out personal contact info on memes.

For some reason I don't remember the version I saw asking for anything like a phone number or address. E-mail maybe which makes sense, a lot of meme's ask for that. And it did ask for real first and last name (Although few people would let that deter them from using pennames).

It's a warning flag if it asks for that, in my opinion.
