Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
I was checking my friends page over at LJ, when at the top I spot a post by nyjoder over at stupid_free. After some link checking, I think I've got the gist of why "twatwaffle" has his knickers in a twist.

You see, stupid_free linked to a post over at thequestionclub where njyoder was being a dick informing the OP that her icon was most misleading. It didn't show, in his tactful words, "how fat you truly are." Needless to say, there is wank (and a mod smackdown), which is why it was on stupid_free.

But that's not the only thing that made it to the community, as everyone's favorite long-winded wonder shows up himself. He's determine to help the stupid people of the world understand the true meaning of "misleading":

mis·lead /mɪsˈlid/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[mis-leed] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, -led, -lead·ing. –verb (used with object) 1. to lead or guide wrongly; lead astray. 2. to lead into error of conduct, thought, or judgment. –verb (used without object) 3. to be misleading; tend to deceive: vague directions that often mislead

Clearly, people with icons of anime characters and animals are intending to deceive people into think that they're not actually live human beings! And just look at all the people who fell into the deception...all, 0 of them. And people using real pictures of themselves on the internet that deliberately try to hide their ugliness? Not deceptive at all. People never try to do that anyway. Prediction: many stupid, unrelated and uncreative insults to this post, because they lack the ability to defend their ignorance of the word 'misleading.'

Did anyone defend their ignorance of misleading? I honestly don't know. Did everyone and their brother poke/mock the troll? You bet your sweet ass they did.

Uh, you do realize that typos are, by definition, accidental, right? How could I make a typo and not know it? Make sense please.

Well, what happens is someone, like yourself, stubbornly clings to the notion that they are spelling something correctly in the face of a ridiculous amount of evidence to the contrary.

For example, let's take "wrong way"

Now, "wrong way" is clearly two words, "wrong" and "way". If I were to type them as "wrongway", it would be wrong.

Yes, even if I didn't realize it was a typo. And yes, even if I didn't believe it to be or want it to be a typo.

It is a typo because that is the incorrect means of writing "wrong way". There is a space between "wrong" and "way" because they are two separate words.

Now, if you take away "wrong way" and add "each other", the same argument holds true.

Interesting, you equated 'typo' and 'spelling error.' They are not synonymous, and you can check your precious dictionary if you disagree.

If it were INTENTIONAL on my part (read: not accidental), then it wouldn't be a typo and at worst, it would simply be a spelling error.

How funny that someone who doesn't even know what 'typo' means is trying to educate me on the meaning of words.

*perks up*

Are you going to admit it's a spelling error? Because that's just as good. Come on! You can do it! Just admit you are wrong already. You'll feel better. :)

hahahahaha

Here's a link for you. You're definitely engaging in proof by assertion. Please educate yourself on argumentative fallacies.

Whatever you say, Mr. internets linguistic PhD. Where are these experts that you keep saying are agreeing with you? Are you hearing voices again?

You won't even admit that you were wrong to equate 'typo' and 'spelling error.' How intellectually dishonest is that? You've now abandoned the typo=spelling error line of argument. I'm sure you'll claim that you haven't, but then you'll reply over and over simply saying 'oh a typo=spelling error' without actually supporting that view.

Aaaaand there's nothing in here about "eachother" being a word or you admitting that you are wrong.

You aren't as smart as you think you are, Slappy, if you think I'm going to be distracted. I'm not giving you an inch, bub.

You can respond to this thread until I type in my sleep (which may happen, because I'm getting sleepy), and you will still be wrong.

...That must burn.

I never said there was anything in there about "eachother" being a word. You seem to be getting slower and slower.

Did you actually read it? If you did, it should be very obvious that I'm accusing you of engaging in that type of fallacious argument.

P.S. Don't give me circular logic. "Wrong way" doesn't become incorrect because you say so. It would become incorrect if it weren't common usage, though. In fact, that's what you've been doing repeatedly, engaging in argumentum ad nauseam (go look that up--I know it's a big term, but you can learn it).

What I've been doing "repeatedly" is trying to drill into your head that "eachother" is two words, not one. This is a logical argument, backed up by the English language and nothing you say will change that.

The only reason this is continuing is because rather than slink away, you insist upon grasping at something, anything, everything, that I say in response to try and cover up your screw up.

Are you ready to admit defeat yet? Or are you going to continue this game that you have no hope of winning.

I think it's fair to tell you...I love debating, especially if I'm right. :) You really don't have a snowball's chance in Hell with this. I'm bnth loving pwning you, and laughing at how you are trying to pin your problems on me.

I mean, practically every other post is you trying to project your issues and faults on to me. When you aren't being owned that is.

Are you really not going to give up?

This is a logical argument, backed up by the English language and nothing you say will change that.

More argumentum ad nauseam. Have you looked that up yet? Saying that you're 'backed up by the English language' is a cop-out to avoid defending your argument. Your argument is indefensible though, I can understand you simply repeating "IMRITEMRIMTEIMRIETE" over and over--my ego would be bruised if I were you, too.

The only reason this is continuing is because rather than slink away, you insist upon grasping at something, anything, everything, that I say in response to try and cover up your screw up.

I'm not the one hearing voices here! When you claim that experts are talking to you in your head, how the heck can I be expected to respond?

Are you ready to admit defeat yet? Or are you going to continue this game that you have no hope of winning.

I'm not the one abandoning defense of my argument. Repeating "my dictionary criterion is totally right" over and over and over and over and over DOES NOT MAKE YOU RIGHT. Got it? Since you enjoy repeating things so much, perhaps if I repeat "REPEATING THINGS DOESNT MAKE YOU RIGHT", you'll get it.

You have not once bothered to support your dictionary criterion. You evaded my question, too. You have no intellectual honesty.

You really don't have a snowball's chance in Hell with this. I'm bnth loving pwning you, and laughing at how you are trying to pin your problems on me.

So then why are you insulting me instead of defending your argument and addressing mine? I keep trying to ask you to defend parts of your argument and all you do is insul back. How is that 'pwning' me?

Are you really not going to give up?

Bucko, until you can tell the difference between 'typo' and 'spelling error', you should probably sit this one out.

"REPEATING THINGS DOESNT MAKE YOU RIGHT"

And yet you won't shut up.

Okay, if it will make you happy, even though (for the 780995784th time) you're scrapping with the wrong person, I will "back up my argument".

Okay, go to any search engine and type in the word "dictionary". Go down the list and attempt to find "eachother".

That's it. That's all. It's not complicated, and I'm not trying to argue or debate. I mean, you keep insisting on making this argument, and...you are wrong.

It's amazing, really. You act as if it's so complex and out there, when all it involves is typing "dictionary" in a search engine (or even grabbing one from a library) and looking up the word "eachother".

It's like something so simple is completely out of your mental grasp. Unbelievable.

....you didn't back it up. You just repeated your original premise.

Wow. Are you really that dense? Your argument exists exclusively on the premise that the dictionary dictates correctness and that if it's not the dictionary, it couldn't possibly be correct.

I challenged this premise. You refused to back up this premise. You just repeated that the premise is right, over and over again, like you are here.

When a fundamental premise is challenged in an argument, you need to support. So far, you've only supported it by begging the question (circular logic).

No, I showed you how I know for a fact that you are wrong. I LOOKED IT UP. I am not going to provide links for you when I've just shown you what to do to find out for yourself why you are wrong.

I understand that the idea of seeing for yourself that you are wrong is scary to someone like you, but just follow the simple directions and you will be swimming in proof.

I am not arguing with you, Slappy. Either see for yourself or continue to be an obstinate jerk. Your choice.

I really don't get what you're asking of cookie_love. She did a Google comparison (your method of determining correctness) and she looked in some online dictionaries (everyone else's method) and you got pwnd* both ways.

Seriously, what do you want her to do?

N.B.: "pwnd" is not a word. It's an intentional, humorous typo for "you just got your ass handed to you."
