Godwin was a Nazi!
Over at the xkcd feed, [info]polyanarch informs us that he hates Godwin's law and all the sheep who follow it, and all comparisons to Hitler are inherently valid. Small, but amusing.

Also, bonus wank in which we're told that getting a hysterectomy means you aren't a woman anymore and people argue about who does or doesn't deserve abuse. (Warning: slightly nsfw icon in that thread.)

My dad is very, very, painfully gay. Somehow, though, he's still married to my mom. I always thought that my mom was just his 'one exception', but if getting a hysterectomy made her into a man...

Does this mean that removal of any sex-specific organs negates one's group membership? Or are they only the necessary organs? In which case, does removal of breast tissue count? On the one hand, it is necessary for breastfeeding, but on the other hand, we can use formula now if necessary. What about the clitoris? Does it count if you're sterile or do not plan to have children? What if you've already HAD children?

...really, I'm just curious.

Nope, wrong. Getting a hysterectomy means you don't have to flush half your life's blood down the toilet once a month any more. It means that you're not incapacitated by pain for approximately one-third of the time, and your body actually has a chance to recover and reduce its frantic efforts to keep your system energised. It means you get to go to work once in a while, your clothes last more than three weeks, and you can actually plan ahead for things in the certain knowledge that you'll be able to do them instead of curling up on the couch with a hot water bottle clutched to your middle. It means you don't have to explain to gormless male employers that your baby-making bits put you through hell and it isn't, honestly, just an excuse to evade your responsibilities, and you don't have to explain to your snippy female colleagues why you're wearing heavy dark-coloured clothing in the middle of the summer.

The day they yanked mine was one of the happiest days of my life. Whether that makes me 'not a woman', or turns me into Sylvester Stallone or a bull elephant, I care not. Living without pain is all that matters to me.
