Over on [info]ohnotheydidnt, wanking is merely byproduct of existence. The art of celebrity bashing involves a careful, delicate waltz around various puddles of splooge scattered across the boards. Today is no exception.

[info]foreverxromance posts a blind item regarding the inevitable, sordid behaviors of the rich and eccentric. But this isn't what sparks the wank - it's a matter of semantics. [info]cmacarson just can't understand why people think "masseuse" and "masseur" are appropriate titles for a LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST when they are clearly terms indicative of prostitution. It's no joke, people. Vocabularly is serious business.

And don't even think about arguing with her. After all, this LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST attends a real life, professional skool, so she knows her shit. For realz.

I'm a LMT.

And yes. It is an issue in the field.

Unfortuantly, there's shit loads of hooker using both terms, so personally, I say just don't advertise yourself as a "Beautiful busty blond MLMT" and you shouldn't have problems.

But yeah, when an old, Hairy guy asks you to start massaging "Lower" you REALLY want a way to diffrentiate the two. because honestly? A loot of people don't know the diffrence, and really DO expect happy endings.

My husband is an LMT and I hate it when someone calls him a 'masseuse'. First off, 'masseuse' is feminine. It's against his professional ethics to prove his manliness, but I'll vouch for his Y chromosomes.

He went through lots of effort and hard work to earn his professional title and I don't like hearing his profession referred to with a term that I've only ever heard used for types of 'massage' that are given by those in The Oldest Profession, not his.

Yeah, excatly. A lot of people on there were like "OMG it means this you idiot!"

Well, yeah, but common useage=/=original meaning for a shit load of words (Maybe not this one yet, but it's a rather retarded argument. Retarded being a good example of what I mean)

Every profession has it's terms that don't get used yet by the public (shit, how many times I've had to argue that a fracture bone is the same as a broken bone?) but if someone who KNOW wtf they're talking about tell them, you'd think they'd be quiet.

I love otf_wank. It's where I am constantly reminded that there is nothing in the world that is not Very Serious Business.

I think that a lot of people just don't respect the profession or consider it a 'real' job or 'real' therapy. You can bet that if someone could make similar comparisons to their jobs, they'd be up in arms about it!

Maybe, but right now I can't help but think it would be awesome if "going to see my English teacher" were a euphemism for sex.

I say we Make It So, because that would be awesome, more awesome than the most awesome hot dog ever.

Or it could come off as creepy and sort of wrong, like that song by the Police.

Excatly.

And let's face it, who wants to be considered a whore, no matter what their job? Maybe it's not common useage everywhere, but let's face it, a lot of world insulting in one place aren't insulting in others.
