Just to contribute a boring personal anecdote for old times sake, right after the Do Not Call list went into effect, I was made paranoid by a flurry of hang-up calls. Turns out that whomever programmed the autodialer with DNC numbers had the calls terminated after the recipient picked up, rather than skipping blocked numbers before they were dialed.
