Okay. It looks like Mr. Atropus wasn't even saying "ignore the meter" altogether. His thrust was more "don't worry about the meter AT FIRST, so you can concentrate on what is being said and then you can go back and add the meter TO that, otherwise you get so hung up on the meter that you completely overlook the fact that you're talking about having killed your father and shit."
And things aren't even all written in iambic pentameter.
