Yes, that inoffensive vegetable brings the wankers to the table. See them argue over MSG! Sugar! Disparage Americans, Brits, and New Zealanders!

A highlight:

FWIW, the recipe is pretty good :D

MSG can kill? Neurotoxin? WTF? It's a SALT made from an AMINO ACID.

If it's so damn deadly, why am I still alive? My diet contains vast quantities of MSG-rich ramen.

*Sigh* I'm just going to go sit in the "why must my species be so stupid?" moping corner for a while and eat my toxic noodles. Mmm... Poison...

Can you buy MSG anymore? My Mum used to tenderise meat with it when I was growing up – and er... I’m not dead.

I like bung it in cooking, and this recipe is just up my street.

while retorts are flying fast, nobody seems to be considering the fact the aubergine is a bad luck vegetable. particularly as a faithful wiccan, i must caution everybody thinking about savaging nature's purple bystander, and suggest a NATURAL aubergine substitute, the clenched fist of a dead ape, with a little shellfish dye for colouring. enjoy!

A Korean friend of mine gets really offended when people insult MSG. He says they've been using it in Asia without brain explosions for a very long time, it's just frantic Americans who get all twisted up about it...

Given that ketchup and soy sauce already contain pretty significant levels of the base flavor that MSG adds...is it really even necessary in that recipe?

So the wank is even more redundant than wank in general.

Sheesh, I thought the only problem with MSG was a high number of people happen to be allergic to it. (Especially if they didn't grow up with it).

My mom gets really bad MSG headaches, but that's a reaction to an allergen not OMGDETH!!one1!

The wank is hilarious, but I loved this bit the most: "The idea of cooking advice from the UK is laughable. Perhaps they would like this recipe if it were boiled until unedible." My grandmother boils EVERYTHING, so even though obviously the Brits do some good cooking (I'd kill my mother for English chips, num) for years I thought that that was literally all they did.

We have one Chinese place in the area that admits to using MSG. (All the others seem to have "NO MSG ZOMG" signs up.) It's some of the best Chinese food I've had. I think this fact speaks for itself.

And I was pleased to learn recently that MSG is not the poisonous devil ingredient it's made out to be in the States. Now I can eat at Jan Mee all I like without worrying about just bursting into flames right on the spot.

Well, MSG *does* have an unpleasant side-effect: because of its strong taste one gets used to it quickly and afterwards food without MSG will taste too bland.

But, er, that's all I have. But what do I know, my national cuisine has about a thousand ways to prepare cabbage.
