You say Aubergine, I say Eggplant
I've never posted a wank before. YAY me!

I bring you Eggplant Wank.

It's a recipe. For eggplant. But go to the comments!

Yes, that inoffensive vegetable brings the wankers to the table. See them argue over MSG! Sugar! Disparage Americans, Brits, and New Zealanders!

A highlight:
"It doesn't take much to bring the Nazi tree huggers out. OH!!! Don't eat MSG!! OH!!! Save a tree, but could you hold my place in the tree line whle I get an abortion!!!

FWIW, the recipe is pretty good :D

Can you buy MSG anymore? My Mum used to tenderise meat with it when I was growing up – and er... I’m not dead.

I like bung it in cooking, and this recipe is just up my street.

There's a Chinese supermarket near where I live that sells it in tubs. If there's something similar in your area you could try there.

I do actually see it around occasionally, but haven’t ever considered buying it. Maybe I should.

If nothing else, you should have a good chance of getting hold of it at a supermarket that sells Japanese ingredients. It's sold there as Ajinomoto.

when i was little i ate Ajinomoto straight out of the plastic packet, and i vaguely remember our housekeeper saying it was made from powdered skulls of Chinese people or something like that.

Yep, most grocery stores in the US carry it, usually labelled as a "flavor enhancer." Mrs. Dash is a brand you should be able to find in the sugar/salt/baking section.

Accent claims to be "glutamate". Isn't that the "G" in "MSG"?

http://www.a1spiceworld.com/msg.html

We used it on meat all the time. It made a huge difference.

Accordign to that link, it's what contributes to the flavor called "umami".

As I grew up in the Far East, my DNA is probably part MSG.
