You say Aubergine, I say Eggplant
I've never posted a wank before. YAY me!

I bring you Eggplant Wank.

It's a recipe. For eggplant. But go to the comments!

Yes, that inoffensive vegetable brings the wankers to the table. See them argue over MSG! Sugar! Disparage Americans, Brits, and New Zealanders!

A highlight:
"It doesn't take much to bring the Nazi tree huggers out. OH!!! Don't eat MSG!! OH!!! Save a tree, but could you hold my place in the tree line whle I get an abortion!!!

FWIW, the recipe is pretty good :D

how very amusing, that a resident of the country that invented the corn-dog and fried peanut-butter and banana sandwich, would criticise British cuisine!

O_O How dare they criticize the corn-dog!

I feel so disappointed about the egg roll. I read about it before going to the States, and then tried it and was like 'this is the egg roll, this is what people go on about' it was so very ordinary.

My illusions dashed.

I'm more interested in the fried peanut-butter and banana sandwich. Where can one acquire such a thing?

I agree. Purely in the interest of cultural understanding, of course...

Apparently, they were the favorite food of Elvis, and are therefore served in restaurants across Memphis.

Nigella Lawson (British TV chef of HAWTNESS) also had a show on how to make one. Might be in one of her books somewhere.

British... cuisine?

I do believe that's an oxymoron.

The island that deep fries candy bars is in no position to point fingers!

/Scottish ex-pat
//who admittedly had never come across a chip shop that actually fried Mars bars.
///And has tried tempura-fried ice cream here in the states (it wasn't good).

I found one. It was in Orkney. The entire experience was disturbing, and I ended up giving mine to an Australian.

Oh! I have an Aunt that grew up in Orkney, though I've never been there.

I find the whole concept of fried dessert food disturbing, to be honest. I only had the fried ice cream (this was in a Japanese restaurant in SF) because my friend nagged me into trying it. Both of us found it pretty gross and decided to split the ice cream-filled mochi that I had ordered instead. :D

Ice cream-filled mochi? What flavor was it?

At least America invented foods. Australia has invented .... um .... vegemite. And fairy bread. Our best cuisine is eating our national emblem. :P
