Fish-inna-barrel wank of the day
The NY Times newsblog The Lede reports that Paris Hilton is out of jail and under house arrest. Predictably, the comments thread explodes. 690 comments and counting.

My favorite part about this is actually not the comments thread (which is full of all the self-righteous wankery you'd expect, on all sides). It's the Recent Posts sidebar and the comment counts therein:

I find it especially funny, and possibly even a touch ironic, in light of the sheer number of people in the Hilton comments thread ranting about how news is SERIOUS BUSINESS and complaining about the girl getting yet more airtime.

	No, it's just that I've been trying to sit through the MST3K Movie for the past three days, there was the news item I posted in random_lounge--which now has race wank attached to it--and now this. There's too much mindboggle for the 7 hours I've been up today! (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Santa Claus conquers the Martians" is one of the few I have never been able to slog all the way through (that and "Red Zone Cuba"). But the movie was a breeze! (Reply to this)(Parent)

	I adored Mike and the 'bots but "This Island Earth" had so many plotholes and wooden acting and implausibility that I had turn it off for several hours and then come back to it. I'm also doing this, so I'm trying to observe and take notes on all the movies I watch this month, you know? I just found out this particular one was uploaded on youtube. 	Oy. I have a hard enough time writing comic scripts. I don't think I could write a movie script. Well - no, I could, but I am better in other mediums so I'm going to stick with those and work my way up. I'm not a jump in and drown kinda person. LOL! But good luck!
