Become a wanker, learn to tuck.
You may (probably not, but you may) remember a lovely little lady named [info]nokomarie from this bit of i_wankery in days of yore. She is back at it in all her pretentiously batshit glory in [info]little_details, in a charming little display of transphobia, wordwank, and accusing a mod of trolling her own community.

It starts when [info]coloredink asks a question about erections and tucking - can you get one, does it hurt, etc. etc.. (Beware - NSFW images!) One member helpfully provides photographs, which is
where the trouble starts.

[info]nokomarie: Um. Well, that explains "Miss Saigon". I shall go in my corner now and whimper in total confusion over why a person wouild lie so in the first place.

[info]salzara_tirwen: Or you could go ask a drag queen/crossdresser/transperson, except without using rude words like "lie".

The wank here peters out, because [info]nokomarie is apparently referencing not tucking in general but specifically, like, M. Butterfly or something, and people generously drop it. So you'd think it was over, right? But no! She had to go and call tucking "shenanigans" and the shit starts to fly.

Witness! Nokomarie is better than you peons because she is a nurse, she doesn't have to respect other people's gender identity because she's stressed from work and her husband is ill, apparently the mod is a troll now?, and a tiny but hilarious bit of awesome in this exchange.

It's not the biggest wank, but it's proudly strutting its stuff down the wankwalk.

FAIR WARNING: Fill up my email inbox with comments all about your thoughts on trans, and I will rip out your still-beating heart and make a casserole with it.

Did she sing a lot and then shoot herself in the head? And then sing some more?

I just wondering how you could possibly be married for *years* to someone who hadn't had sex-reassignment surgery and not be aware of their biological gender. Unless you never tried to have PIV sex, and didn't pay attention when you did other things, and were never in the bathroom at the same time, and... WHUT. How would you not notice?

Maybe they'd never had sex nor seen a naked woman before, thus didn't realise this was normal...

Or ya know, maybe he was lying out his ass when he said he hadn't been aware of it. *most likely*

Not a case of sex-reassignment surgery, but there *was* a case where a female-born singer married, had (adopted) children, and wasn't revealed as such to his wife and family until after his death. Of course, this was in the fifties, and it's really bugging me that I can't remember his name, since it was pretty well known, IIRC.

*goes off to research because that sounds very familiar*
That'd be Billy Tipton.

Billy Tipton.

If I recall correctly, he told his wife that he had been mutilated in a traffic accident, which explained why he they had to have sex in the dark with prosthetics.

That at least is more plausible that someone not noticing that his wife had a real penis all of her own. (I'm assuming here that she had "normal" genetalia and was obviously physically male at birth. Of course, most plausible is that they guy lied about not knowing.)

I think sometimes the whole notion of extreme modesty and people being fairly ignorant of the opposite sex to begin with has worked in trans people's favour.

The M Butterfly story (which I bet this stupid woman is mixing up with Miss Saigon) supposedly hinged on the spy-drag performer taking advantage of his lover's willingness to believe stereotypes that Oriental women were oh-so-shy and modest, and possibly constructed a little differently. I guess if you played it coy, always did it clothed and held your todger discreetly out of the way, a naive man could be fooled. Also, if you were super-willing to give oral sex all the time, you might be able to keep him away from your non-girl bits, as it were.

I think it would have been easier for FtoM at different times in the past, though, because if their wives were very inexperienced and didn't have major sexual expectations, doing it in the dark with a prosthesis would probably be convincing enough.

I had a slightly different take on both M. Butterfly and Boys Don't Cry which was that the 'deceived' party was quite happy to be deceived and although they may have suspected the truth they didn't actually want to know because it would tell them things about themselves that they weren't ready to face. It was also in their interests to claim that they had been fooled, incredible as it may sound, because not to have been fooled would have made them just as guilty/culpable (at least in the eyes of the other characters) as their trans lover(s).

Maybe it's too many years of reading about murderers with innocent wives, but the defence of "But I didn't know" always makes me slightly suspicious. Didn't know? Or didn't want to know?

Other than that, I got nothing.
