If you collect alimony, you're a moneygrubbing whore.
Okay, so [info]cbpiz posts to [info]bad_service about her father-in-law passing away and his girlfriend of five years, claiming to be the man's wife, cremating him within 24 hours without consulting his family/next of kin or having any legal paperwork of any kind. Distressed because she and other family members did not get a chance to pay their respects and receive closure, she calls this bad service on the part of the funeral home.

Cue.... alimony wank!

Yes, that's right. Forget the possibly irresponsible/unethical funeral home and the possibly shady circumstances, it's all about them moneygrubbin' hos because alimony is charity and true feminists would have none of it.

Some lone voices of reason pipe up, nobly excusing [info]cbpiz due to her distressed state while at the same time patiently disagreeing with her, but no, alimony is for the weak.

Uh-huh.

The wank is dying down, as the OP seems to realize this isn't the time/place, but was it ever vociferous.

After fifteen months as a receptionist at a law firm, it is my humble opinion that alimony can be ridiculously unfair to the spouse paying out (yes! Sometimes alimony does cover a spouse keeping her horse in a private stable!) and ridiculously unfair to a spouse who really needs the money (yes! Sometimes a spouse gave up their job for years because of marriage!). Sometimes it's too much, sometimes it's too little, sometimes it's spot on -- just like plenty of other things in the legal system.

*towels*

Also, wow. That is bad service.

I think alimony is the most disgraceful practice in our society today. To have a man pay for a wife he supported already who no longer has to do anything for him is why women continue to be considered the weaker sex.

Is ... is that why? "Let us vote!" "No, your reasoning is weak! We know because you take alimony, you h0rs!"

Still, as weak as THAT is, I'd be pissed if that happened to a member of the family, too.

So why is it an embarrassment when a man accepts it according to norms of society and not when a woman accepts it? Could it be because men can take care of themselves while women can not without help?

So she's a feminist who...thinks women can't take care of themselves without help? I'm so confused.

Maybe that second one was meant to be in a sarcastic-ironic tone, and just falled horribly, horribly flat.

Or I'm just givin' her too much credit and she's just dumb.

Hmm. I mean, it's a sucky situation and all, but I'm not sure how alimony is anything but a secondary situation in this case....which is making things sound like the OP has some....issues.

Which is understandable, of course. I'm just saying.

I read the OP's post a first time and I went 'wow, that his sucky service, wtf', then I read the OP's fapping about alimony and now I can only read her initial report tainted by her attitude. Is it me or there is an underlying feeling of her thinking her father-in-law's gf was just a 'gold digging whore'? I might be the only one, but her story seriously lacks credibility now.

Just out of curiosity, what are the laws considering alimony? That is, on what basis does one get it and how much? Is it solely the man's responsibility, or do women pay it too? Because if they don't, then it is a bit "wtf" -inducing.
