Don't get her fired you h0r!
OK, so over in [info]bad_service, [info]biumbiumbambalo posts a tale about a teenage cashier accusing them of stealing. The OP is not wanky...the fun begins when some suggestions of speaking to a manager and getting said cashier fired are made and [info]dunaerin takes umbrage with the suggestion.

"Handle this now and get that dumb ass bitch fired."

NO NO NO NO.

Fuck, that pisses me off. No matter how old someone is, you don't know their life situation. This job might be the one thing that helps pays her families bills, etc. Unless you have like, continuous issues with someone, you should never ever threaten to get someone fired. Hell, her grandmother could have DIED or something and she was having a really bad day.

That is so pretentious and nasty, I'm sorry.

Things don't get wanky, at first; people say that they definitely think a manager should be spoken to, and [info]dunaerin agrees but is quite emphatic that the employee should not be fired. Then the fun begins with [info]karinalynn's comment:

I think she should have thought about her "life situation" before she falsely accused the OP of stealing, then made her empty her pockets twice, then used profanity towards her, then not apologize when she realized she was wrong.

She does deserve to lose her job over this. She is putting her company at risk for lawsuits and losing business because of the way she acted. If her grandmother died, or she was having THAT bad of a day, she should have left. She should not have been dealing with the public. Period. End of story. There is never an excuse to treat a customer like that.

[info]dunaerin:Maybe she does, but you know what? THAT IS NOT YOUR CHOICE TO MAKE. Leave that to her supervisor, and not a customer. I have no respect for anyone who is that self centred.

[info]conceptual_tea: The cashier was self centered by doing two searches on the OP and not even apologizing. She deserves to lose her job. Sorry, but people are not entitled to a job if they act this inappropriately. There are other cashier jobs, and if she gets fired, she'll learn to not act like this again.

[info]dunaerin:What if YOU had a bad day? Say you maybe have a bad situation at home, and you say something nasty out of absolute frustration. Customer gets you fired.

Would you just say OH WELL? I don't think so.

[info]conceptual_tea: I wouldn't act like the cashier did. I am betting she broke store policy on several occasions. The cashier's possibly "bad day" is not the problem of the company or the customer.

Maybe if she gets fired she'll learn to follow the rules and not demand to search people because she's got her panties in a knot.

[info]dunaerin: Maybe you would. You never know. My scorpion died today. I nearly burst out bawling at work, so had to go home, because being on phones + mentoring + crying = no.

Maybe something horrible happens to you, and you act badly because of it.

You just don't know. Sorry that you're such a dick. I honestly am. :<

[info]dunaerin rapidly degrades into CAPSLOCK OF stupid RAGE. And blames them calling [info]conceptual_tea names on them being Canadian...no I'm not sure what the signifigance is either. He/she then proceeds to tangle again with [info]conceptual_tea in this thread. Once He/she gets tired of that they proceed to troll [info]conceptual_tea's journal.

Kinda small, but worth it I think.

Sweet, so next time I want to be a total bitch to a customer, all I have to do is say that my grandmother died, and suddenly they'll be falling at my feet and apologising? I like where this is going, especially considering the idiots I have to deal with.

Either your grandmother or your scorpion's death would work nicely.

She lost her scorpion. The lamentation was heard all the way across stupid_free with the posting of the same four lame "shock pictures" over and over in an attempt to take revenge on people making fun of her for mourning the death of an arachnid.

I like how [info]dunaerin seems to see no contradiction in the fact that she left her job when she had a bad day, while the cashier with the supposed bad day harassed customers instead.

Moral: Hypothetical dead grandmothers are a better excuse for acting shitty than real dead scorpions. I am sure I will manage to apply this to life somehow.

[info]dunaerin, buddy, take note - I have never in my life worked at a store that allowed that kind of behavior. Our shop lifting confrontation policies are so squeaky clean you'd have to use a toothpick to fit between the cracks. Retail policy is that $XXX of lost merchandise is better than a potential multi-million dollar lawsuit. I know it's a totally shocking concept, but generally people don't want to utterly alienate their client base.

Because I know when I'm having a bad day at work, I can just walk out. Management has no problem with that, not at all!

Ugh. I saw this one when it was still at about thirty comments, eyerolled massively at it, then ignored it since I figured it'd end up here anyway.

This may come as a total surprise to Dunarin, but death in the family is a legit excuse to call in to work with most companies. Even Walmart. They'd much rather you not come in at all than come in with a massive load on your shoulders and dump it all on the customers.

So, if I want to harass and/or insult a customer, all I have to do is claim "bad day" and everyone's cool again? Good to know. No more following work policy for me!

And, as loony and assholey as [Unknown LJ tag] is, I thought the whole thing where they mocked her dead pet on stupid_free was a bit much. They also kind of belittled anyone who would grow attached to a bug.

Actually, it was funny in a way. Why? It was sandwiched inbetween two pet wanks. In one, most were pissed off at a girl being mock over the fact her dog was dying. The second, most of them were pissed that some guy thought fish were basically decoration because they're in a tank or whatnot, and don't run around like a dog or cat. It's not just me finding that funny/weird, right?

I'd like to see Blackironcrown try his/her grandious visions of the day he/she will send a cashier to prison for 30 days for merely touching them on the charge that is is assualt and battery.

The first arriving police officer would be like "... Are you serious?"

And if it got to court, assuming the judge isn't a nutter, blackironcrown might be the one leaving with a rebuke for wasting the court's time.

From the OP: "Am I wrong for thinking she owed me an apology after that?"

...she has to ask? Seriously, being accused of stealing and being wrong and half-arsed about it definitely warrants an apology.
