It actually entertains the bejesus out of me.

But that's because I grew up in a small New England town where the Board of Selectmen (the local legislative body) included members of not only the Republican and Democratic parties, but also members of the Communist Party and the John Birch Society; I also remember hearing once as a kid that a fist fight broke out during a public policy meeting.

So I've long been hardwired with the message that "note to self: politics = wacky".
