How many goths does it take to build some fine Swedish furniture?
Ikea runs an advert that a particular product will brighten up your dorm room, "unlike a creepy gothic roommate, who can be a bad influence."

Gothfash, the lj goth fashion community reacts predictably, with a post titled, "I am outraged by this and I am going to write a letter."

Don't miss the derrogatory useage of the word 'norms' and how the oppression of the pasty, whiney, and emmaciated is ABSOLUTELY LIKE the systemic racism directed at African Americans!

The icing on the cake is that the OP, [info]mme_archel is community mod and owner.

Thanks to a mouse for the head's up!

I just spent the past three minutes trying to pronounce the name of that duvet. Oh, Ikea. Never change.

"Brunkrissla" sounds more marketable than "Ploughman's Spikenard", at any rate ;)

Now, see, that just sounds like a implement of torture, rather than a plant. "The pear of anguish, the scavenger's daughter, the ploughman's spikenard... what shall we use today?"

Now that you've put that image in my mind... I'd so buy it.

It sounds like something my students would come up with.

Try it in fake german. That's how most american movies seem to attempt swedish.

Or just call it poor ugly little flower duvet

...but I can't pronounce fake German, either.

I AM DOOMED TO FOREVER FAIL AT EUROPEAN LANGUAGES. Oh, Japanese, you're my only love.

I'd try to pronounce it by the way of German, but Swedish has that evil way of smuggling in random sh-like sounds, so I think I'll just hide over there ;)

Don't worry, no sneaky little "sh" sounds. The really tricky one is the sound like the cat hissing. Every time I count to ten I have to skip seven because of it... "...fyra, fem, sex, SEVEN, åta, nio, tio..."
