How many goths does it take to build some fine Swedish furniture?
Ikea runs an advert that a particular product will brighten up your dorm room, "unlike a creepy gothic roommate, who can be a bad influence."

Gothfash, the lj goth fashion community reacts predictably, with a post titled, "I am outraged by this and I am going to write a letter."

Don't miss the derrogatory useage of the word 'norms' and how the oppression of the pasty, whiney, and emmaciated is ABSOLUTELY LIKE the systemic racism directed at African Americans!

The icing on the cake is that the OP, [info]mme_archel is community mod and owner.

Thanks to a mouse for the head's up!

Not a rap--actual song. Still funny:

Oh, I'd be thinner, I'd be taller
Go clubbing in my collar
With skin pale as a moth
Dressed in black, I'd go creeping
While the normal folk are sleeping
If I only were a Goth

With my hair up, I'd look fancy
Like Siouxsie and the Banshees
With silk or velvet cloth
Dressed in boots, never sandals
And the room would be lit with candles
If I only were a Goth

Yes I'd wanna die
From the bottom of my heart impure
Would I like another clove? Well, sure
And after that, we'll go listen to The Cure

This reminds me of Sara Vowell's bit where her Goth Name is Debbie and she represents the pink of Goth.

It was Becky, because she decided that Becky was the most terrifying name imaginable.

Oh, well, so near and yet so far.

I know some very terrifying Debbies, y'see.

It's actually Thou Shalt Not, but Voltaire would be pretty appropriate in this case as well!

I'd say Voltaire covered it, then, as I have a copy of him singing it. :)

I like Dead Girls Like Me better though.
