How many goths does it take to build some fine Swedish furniture?
Ikea runs an advert that a particular product will brighten up your dorm room, "unlike a creepy gothic roommate, who can be a bad influence."

Gothfash, the lj goth fashion community reacts predictably, with a post titled, "I am outraged by this and I am going to write a letter."

Don't miss the derrogatory useage of the word 'norms' and how the oppression of the pasty, whiney, and emmaciated is ABSOLUTELY LIKE the systemic racism directed at African Americans!

The icing on the cake is that the OP, [info]mme_archel is community mod and owner.

Thanks to a mouse for the head's up!

*misses Portland like crazy*

Fortunately, here in Austin there's an IKEA already open! (Actually, it's about half an hour north of here, but who cares when you can buy a complete set of dishes for $18?)

What I really like is being able to buy sufficient 6oz wine glasses to use them at a party and not cry if they break.

And wool rugs cheap enough to use for a while and then compost when I get tired of them (no, really, I live on this SLOPE and I put them under fill to stabilize it).

And, goddess save me, Billy bookcases, of which I have, uh, lots and lots.

I bought a rug there and my cat immediately destroyed it. But it was only $10, so I didn't care! (Well, maybe a little.)

There are Billy bookcases in most of the rooms of my house. IKEA owns me.
