Californian makes negative blog entry on Texan city. SA froths at the mouth
Last week, a Californian intern in Austin visited the city of San Antonio, was not impressed, and blogged about it. Nothing special. All well and good, right? Even if some people did flood his blog entry.

A San Antonian blogger found it on Wednesday afternoon, posted about it, and let loose the hounds of war.

Well,
I am surprised he was even qualified to be an intern. Usually they have some common since are are fairly intelligent, but not in this case. He is trying to make a name for his self and he did A_ _ H_ _ _. I am sure he will have a short lived career. I sure hope he doesn't think he can ever look for employment in this great city. I am sure no one would ever hire him. I suggest we start a website that states do not hire Stein. I forgot he is just an intern and probably making less than someone who is states, "would you like fries with that shake". Nothing against them, he is not even good enough to work for or with them. STEIN IS A LOSER.

Because immaturity totally makes you look cool on the interwebz:
James L. said:
Much voodoo to the intern who speaks poorly of our beloved River Walk. Mark Cuban said similar things about it, and he's staring at the empty shelves made especially for his team's Larry O'Brien trophies. What does Austin have? Nada! LOOOOOOSER.

And don't think it's just a one-sided wank!
City Guy said:
Sorry, fat San Antonians. The intern was right! This city is quite lame. Culture? Nope, not here! Good food? You all apparently think so. I have never seen so many fat people in such a small metropolitan area. Fashion? That's an oxymoron here. And WHY is this a news story? Wow, you all must have NOTHING to report on. It's been a nice visit, thanks to family, but it's going to be great to leave. Enjoy your pork rinds and sweet tea!

Soon after, a news spot turned up on WOAI, just to show that SAN ANTONIANS WILL NOT TAKE THIS LYING DOWN!!11one. It must have been a really slow news day. Extra funny for bashing LA and a rival sports team.

And then comments explode on the intern's blog.

You couldn’t be more dead on my man. Although I have never lived anywhere else other than SA in my life, I think you’re dead on. There are so many fat people here it will make you sick. Not only that, but every chance they get they’re stuffing their kid’s faces with candy, soda and all kinds of crap. Not only does the river stink, you can’t walk down the sidewalk without being blocked out by yet another fatty and his wife. Please San Antonio, lose some freaking weight so we can enjoy our god given gift of sight. (and quit using “i’m too fat” as an excuse for using 1. Handicap spaces and 2. motorized shopping carts.)

Wow! I thought I’d be here whining about your inexperienced, 22-year-old (you are about that old aren’t you?) review of one of America’s finest cities. That’s what I thought until I read your column. You’re writing is awful. Go back to whatever junior college you crawled out of and get a refund for whatever writing, grammar, or communicaitons classes you took. It might also help to get a little mileage under your belt and credentialize yourself before the next time you write garbage like this.

In typical elitist, liberal, journalist fashion. He he writes and then runs and hides..you should stand on the corner in downtown San Antonio and give them your opinion in person

I don't know what he's thinking, but Stein makes a "peace offering"/proposal to San Antonians to give the city a second chance and recommend to him places to visit. People still take offense and it gets less funny as time goes on. At least he makes it easy and posts highlights of the mudslinging, but it's mostly personal crap.

Oh, Central Texas, never stop being funny and full of yourself.

Texas is madly resentful of California, because they both have the status in the U.S. of being large enough in terms of population and land to be their own country several times over, but California gets all the respect.

...people respect California? 0.0 I thought they just pretended to so our governor wouldn't beat them up.

I respect it to not suffocate me with humidity in the summertime.

*raises non-alcoholic drink* And I like the feel of the pace of life there. We visiting for a week in 2000, on a collective church trip. Maybe not as fast as L.A.(where we went), but not the crawling at the speed of molasses like Richmond does.

:) Yes, exactly.

*lament* If only I wasn't in love with VA's price of living! I need a hybrid! $175000 house in Santa Monica!

Oh, don't even get me started on the price of living. ;_; I'll be lucky if I can afford my own broom closet in the Bay Area.

Houses here don't hit quarter-half of a million range unless you move north near D.C. or some of the nicer areas of the state. Richmond's a dump compared to those places.

*googles* Median prices in the Bay Area are $660000!?! Maybe the county I live in now will top out at 250K. O_o Jesus.

I saw $3800 when I google'd, but it was for a 4 bedroom house.

Ahem to that, Bay Area sister. I'm going to miss San Francisco when its rent prices force me into the poor house one of these years.

For what it's worth, I hear Berkeley has reasonable rents. As long as you're not allergic to hippies. ;)

Weather in Cali or Va?

One thing I will say for VA, is that we haven't had a heat index over 90F yet, and it's July. Plus, it's been raining/T-storming frequently, which means the humidity is only being bitchy instead of trying to kill us. It's a small comfort from the last two years.

Then, August will come and we'll be taught a lesson. *cuddles central A/C*

VA. I don't know which part you're in, but the temp's been over ninety and our thunderstorms won't appear. :( I envy you that so much. I'm looking forward to the annual Week of Rain, which usually occurs sometime around now. Although granted, today wasn't too bad. But the last week was hellish. Weather here turns on a dime.
