Roadkill is serious business!
Over at Found Magazine, today's find is a picture of a couple posing with a dead deer. First commenter Sara hits the nail on the head with "Well, that's fucked up." But then the comments get more and more batshit. For example:

THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT I WANT BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN TO THOSE TWO PEOPLE - THE WORST OF THE WORST. MAY THEY LIVE IN COMPLETE PAIN THEIR ENTIRE LIVES.

What if someone did that to their grandmother? Would it be funny then? What if someone did that to their daughter? Would you all crack jokes?

And so on and so forth. I don't know what's funnier, the constant talk of how the girl will get "panty crickets" from sitting on the dead deer, or commenter "I'm in love with animals", who insists that the deer is being sexually abused: "sexual abuse after death.. what's that called?? necrophilia? (something like that.. that girl is a necrophiliac)" Ooookay.

I guess I've gone on too many road trips this year, but that deer didn't squick me at all. There aren't even any organs coming out the back end, and that's pretty much standard for all the really nasty roadkill.

PS - If someone did this to my grandmother, I would be confused. She is just a skeleton now, and probbly not very comfortable to sit on.

So . . . am I missing something here? I mean, I'm assuming that these people just found a dead deer on the side of the road and took a picture with it. Weird and gross, but not OMG OUTRAGE. Dude, it's a dead animal. Most of those commenters probably eat dead animals every day. Chill the fuck out.

Unless they stop and hold a candlelight vigil over the corpse of every piece of roadkill that they pass on the highway.

Oh, man! The comments are awesome.

Other choice titbits -

This made me so sad. Before checking out the find of the day I checked my email. My inbox contained an email from a boyfriend from 7 years ago who said he still thinks of me when he sees dead animals and road kill.

Oh baby!

"This is distrubing & sadistic!! I was hoping bambi was part of a movie set and the imbeciles were just having fun with the fake deer. But after zooming the picture, it sure does look like dried up blood on the concrete. This pic gives off some real strong emotions. I don't like it."

"Rex, about vegetarianism. My kids and hubby are vegetarians. My daughters, i think, because they truly respect life in all of its forms. My husband, i think, just to make things difficult for em. Me... i have no excuse.... people are people. I am I."

It's so ... so profound...

"And THIS is why it can be so hard not to hate strangers. If one saw these two at a gas station off the highway, one might toss at them a passing greeting. This makes me not want to be nice to strangers because they might be sick a$$h0les."

Clearly, a winning strategy for life!
"Hey, why the hell did you just beat that guy up?"
"He might have been an asshole."

"i'm in love with animals said: enduring sexual abuse after death.. what's that called?? necrophilia? (something like that.. that girl is a necrophiliac)

It's called "pyronecrobeastiality", which is where you have sex with a dead animal until it catches on fire. Clearly, she's just getting started."

Seeing the picture I thought two things:
#1: That is probably unhygienic.
#2: I hope those shorts don't get ruined.

I guess my mentality has just been ruined by being born into a family of deer hunters.
I wonder what they would thing of the story about my uncle shooting a buck off the doe it was fucking? he'd have shot the doe too but his gun jammed.

Okay, am I reading this right?

Found on the sidewalk in a photo book entitled "Anti Fourth of July." The cover had an American flag with black duct tape replacing the red stripes.

So, as I read it this is really part of somebody's punk-art project, now disgarded? And the foamy-mouthed posters are being rabid over people who are. Not. Even. Involved. in the posting at all?

I can only guess that these people would not like the photos I took of my cat's artistic arrangement of the remains of her mouse kill. She was an artist, that cat. Once she had the rat's feet coming out of its own ear. Once she just left a face and some kidneys. Bizarre.

And I remember the photo I took of the spot where my eldest cat killed a mouse. Complete with chalk outlines of where the murder took place. *nods nods nods*

It might surprise some of you to know that freedom is not just about the things you approve of, it's also about the things you don't. Taking a silly photo of yourselves with a dead deer on the side of the road is not illegal, only stupid. It doesn't warrant death or torture to the participants, if it did, I don't know what that would be called, but it wouldn't be freedom.

No! No! Get your EARTH LOGIC out of this wank! We don't want it here.

Wow, that site has some wanky commenters.

The July 6 entry has a small but hilarious exchange between hotmom and everyone else, wherein hotmom makes a self-righteous comment referencing her distaste for discussion of phallic symbolism. Dwight's Stapler can't pass up the bait, and comments on the contradiction between her name and her attitude. We get you're just jealous, think of the children, I am sexy and modest too!, and then there is a small dogpile.
