I have to say, the only stupid I see here is someone asking for advice on an emergency, people giving her advice, and her apparently not intending to take it. I don't blame the other posters for being upset by that.

Agreed. Also: unfunny. Not even in that "if I squint and tilt my head I can kind of see how someone could theoretically find it funny" way.

Dog eating too much, then barfing at the shoes of stepparent/your boss/the finicky neighbour next door and then doglaughing under the sofa while one tries to apologize = fun ill animal tale / potential wank.
Animal that may be seriously ill and owner who goes "Lalalala can't hear you" while animal may die... not funny.

How about a story in which the dog is acting strangely, the owner takes the dog to the vet, the dog neatly disgraces the owner at the vet by getting filthy dirty before going in, refusing to let herself be weighed, and giving the vet a hard time about putting the thermometer in, only to have her owner be told $58 later that there wasn't actually anything wrong with her, and dogs can have off days too?

My first time owning a dog, and she's a 78-pound lab/heeler mix that is too damn smart for her own good. I swear, she rolled in the mud right before we went to the vet because she wanted to make me look bad. :P

If her only option is a 2 hour drive, she should really take it. At that age, the issue could be as serious as parvo. The chance that the rat the dog ate was diseased or poisoned is also pretty high.

She really does need to get that pup to a vet ASAP because young dogs can go downhill with frightening speed.

And her whining about how no one knows her and she can't afford the vet treatment before she even knows what it costs? Not exactly making me feel like she's really concerned about the dog's welfare. Although I'd hazard most pet owners don't have thousands saved away for expensive treatments, most will at least look into the price before just saying 'no' when faced with a sick animal.

Admittedly, I'm only up to page 6 of the topic but no one seems to have been cruel to her just yet; just understandably frustrated.

Yeah, one of my cats had a couple of vet emergencies when I was still in school and not bringing in a lot of $$. That's what credit cards are for!

I have to agree with the emergency vet advice--even if this woman waits until tomorrow to take her dog to a regular vet (a risky proposition in and of itself), that's still going to mean taking time off work and paying a vet bill. She's going to have to pay for it either way, and she's going to have to take time out of her schedule.

I mean, if it was just some minor illness I would have some sympathy for her, but with symptoms like that her dog may be seriously actually dying.

(Also: not of the funneh. I'm going to hunt down some funny wank now)

Man, what's with white people and their dogs? I mean, just because some lady doesn't feel comfortable driving for 2 hours and spending hundreds of bucks for a fucking dog, she's not the devil the fuck incarnate. White folks don't care this much about humans of different colors. Folks were swept away by foods, locked up, brutalized, etc, and what do they care about? A fucking dog.

Oh yea, and I'm not letting a dog sleep in my fucking bed either.
