I don't agree with people who believe that you must ALWAYS be in a perfect financial position if you're a pet owner (or parent, as seen in many other wanks) because life circumstances can change without warning, but I do believe that if you're a pet owner, particularly of an animal that commonly requires vet treatment, you should set aside something for emergencies.

The people in that thread were surprisingly unwanky considering how conversations like that usually go.

	Within months of buying my first pet, I ended up in and out of hospital. It was pretty tough just paying for her food at that point, and I'm not sure what I would have done if she'd become sick. (Reply to this)(Parent)
