At live journal community [info]gymrats, what could possibly get everyone more excited than an in depth discussion about squats?

A good wank apparently...

For those not in the know [info]gymrats is a community for responsible and enlightened gym enthusiasts. What this means is that those who are more concerned with being thin, than being healthy, or who are afraid of free weights, muscles, or eating, need not bother joining.

All of this is mentioned quite clearly in the user information, which is also (quite clearly) mentioned on the main page.

As you can imagine this mostly goes ignored by your average under eater, and as such is a pet peeve of your average gymrats regular.

After seeing more than their fair share of posts with the same ‘stupid’ questions some community members are less than friendly when they encounter a user who is either too lazy, or in the case of [info]emziem, too nutrition deprived to actually read.

[info]gentlemaitresse is, as usual less than gentle with the noob, here, and here too.

Op! Looks like she/he/it could be a troll!

A poem and some sympathy. Srsly.

Small, but worth the effort, that's the [info]gymrats mentality folks!

[info]gentlemaitresse's icon has the sexiest back evar.

Also, after flipping through other posts in that community, I want to hump its leg express my affection toward it in a respectful and noninvasive manner. Female weightlifters who are neither superathletic nor obsessed with doing 300 leg presses with the machine set to 5 pounds "so they don't bulk up"? Who knew they existed? I may have to start reading the comm.

Despite the comm being bitchy on occasion it is simply the best comm I have ever found for weight training and general nutrition/health information.

It is definitely worth reading, not only will you find tonnes of info, but if ask serious questions (and you read the user info), you will get serious and helpful answers :)
