The Vulva Superstar PC Revue
[info]bellasmommy links to a [info]vaginapagina mod post about whether or not everyone who owns a vagina isn't grossly butthurt when it's implied that zhe is a woman.

[info]stupid_free disagrees. For 700 comments, and counting....

Choice bits:

[info]jack_jackrum: Some people who have vaginas are not women, ladies, or girls. I don't see how this is hard to understand. Have you been under a rock for the last 50 years?
[info]freezer818: Seems like overdramatic, oversensitive hair-splitting that will cause more drama than it's meant to prevent. But what do I know, I'm just a lowly man. *crawls back under rock*

[info]pettythiefIn the example the poster gives (paraphrasing) "recommend that women get pap-tests", how do you re-write that sentence so as not to offend people who have a cervix but don't call themselves 'a woman'? Can it be done? What are you supposed to say? "People with a cervix"? "Vagina-sapiens"? Is it fair of the cisgendered people to expect everyone to perform lexical gymnastics when they represent a tiny proportion of the populace? Unless of course there's a disproportionate number in that community, in which case it's a whole different ball-game.

...and, with that, I think I've burned out, since this whole post makes my head ache. Let's pick a pronoun and go with it.

The real problem is with a safe space that's so safe you're not allowed to say anything at all.

Reminds me of a person in a long running abortion debate who, anytime someone on the pro-choice side would emntion that not every woman wants to be pregnant at the exact time they concieve or would talk about health problems for pregnant women, or jsut anywhere say "women" used to pop up EVERY TIME and e-scream that X was X (X refers to X by X's nickname, so that's the only pronoun for X because X has no gender and X likes it that way and hates the word "zie"). And X was certainly NOT not a woman, and X was able to get pregnant because X had a vagina, and though X was with Y and Y was a man he had a vag so he couldn't get X pregnant, so stop talking about just women needing abortions, because X might need one and X was certainly not a woman, and if you are oppressing X, and X's right to be open minded, and you were a closed minded freak who hated anyone outside gender binary of male and female.

EVERY. Time. You could say "women aren't breeding machines" and X would scream about how you had not mentioned X specifically. You could say "a woman shouldn't be a mother til she wants to be" and X'd whine that you weren't talking about X. You could bloody say "As a woman, I want to have control over my own body." and X would just fap fap fap away about how you'd left X out again and how you always leave X out when you talk about abortion and clearly you do this because YOU HATE X. I finally got annoyed and quit posting because I am not going to change every post I make about abortion to say "Women (and FTM and the androgynous, and the queer and the genderfluid and the X and the other Y and everyone with an innie instead of an outie....)"

I am going to be mean. IF YOU DON'T ID AS A WOMAN, CHANCES ARE YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING PREGGY, OR YOU WILL END IT SOON AFTER. PLZ TO NOT MAKE WOMEN'S REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS ABOUT YOU ALONE YOU GODDAMN BITCH.

(I also hate X because X thinks that pedophilia is okay and to protest against people saying they want to groom young children for sexual activity and that people are ready to be "touched" at birth, and that pushes a major button of mine because EW EW ICK ICK NASTY PLZ DIE IN A FIRE.)

What I gather:

A transgendered person or a transvestite who is biologically female but IDs as male got pissed whenever anyone said 'woman' because it WAS NOT A WOMAN BUT WOMEN ISSUES STILL APPLIED AND THAT IS OPPRESSION!!!!

No gender at all. X does not want to be called male, female, or anything but X.

The person [info]kittikattie is referring to as "X" doesn't self-identify as a woman, but has the biology of a woman and the concerns that go along with it. So when people talked about pregnancy and used the term women to describe the people who are able to get pregnant, X would get upset, because X can get pregnant but doesn't self-identify as a woman. Thus X objected to "women" being applied to anyone concerned with those issues.

Or I'm guessing, at least.

Pretty much. X doesn't identify as a gender. X will throw a bitchfit if you use a single pronoun--including zie and hir--to refer to X, so anytime you refer to X, you have to say X. It's like singing Rufus Xavier Sasparilla but you CAN'T use pronouns.

Long story short: Genderfluid person X insists that every time anyone mention anything about a hoohah, they make sure they mention X and how X matters all the time, making it all about X. She summarily pissed me off, and I am ranting.

I use X so as not to say who it is. I cannot use any pronouns as the person is genderfluid but will not let you use ANY pronouns to refer to X. It's like talking about Rufus Xavier Sasparilla, but you can only say Rufus Xavier Sasparilla every time you refer to Rufus Xavier Sasparilla.

I'd mention suggesting that Rufus X take up the use of the royal "we", just because it would be really funny if Rufus X actually did so.

From one genderfluid person to another, X can shove it up its twat. Most people who possess a vagina do identify as a woman and ergo most talk about the reproductive rights of those possessing a vagina will address these people as women. It really isn't an insult to X, or Y, or little quiet Z over there in the corner.
