This won't end well.
LJ FINALLY speaks.

It's already got a troll in writerspleasure, calling all the people posting serious questions/comments "whiners" and four(!) pages of comments so far.

Highlights in the post include a fauxpology for burr86's wanky comments, LJ still doesn't understand that Federal law doesn't cover depictions of fictional children in sexual situations and a lot of re-stating what they've said before.

Edit: Well, this is an interesting revelation. Actually, there are several members of various fandom communities involved on the review board, as well as the Abuse Prevention Team itself.

And this list of official statements made by LJ staff in the "clarification" lj_biz post should bear watching.

Edit 2: coffeechica is talking with LJ users in stupid_free here. Odds on how long before it gets deleted? Anyone? Anyone? ...Bueller?

...and LJ/6A employees can't even come up with their own boilerplate responses, because rachel (she of the icon where she's posing with a big glass of beer) plagarized a LJ user's comment to use as her own.

Oh, and the lj_biz post has maxed out at 5000 comments in about sixteen hours, which is a new record, I believe. People are going back to the previous lj_biz post to leave comments there, I think.

Edit 3: Godwin's was reached on page 17 of the lj_biz post. (Thanks to [info]khym_chanur for the link.)

The current lj_biz post has made cNet.

The whole thing has been covered by German news magazine Der Spiegel. And a translation. (Thanks to [info]airborne_rodent for those links.)

Slashdot covers it, too. As does Digg. (Thanks to [info]utahraptor for the Digg link.)

Edit 4: Our own [info]cat_mcdougall wrote up a semi-editorial article here. As she says, the "Fandome" is them editing my article.

I have an eating disorder. I am trying to get past it, doing a lot better than I used to be. I'm ED-NOS, if you're curious. I don't really post there anymore, or check it. Even when I used to, I tried to encourage the girls/guys to lose weight in a healthy fashion if they could and discouraged dangerous diets. I really don't want anyone to have an eating disorder, but I know that sometimes, saying "Get better" won't work, so I was trying to find a way to find a good medium.

You're welcome. I was worried that someone would get on my case about it.

Not me. I wish I had a clue-by-four to use on everyone who just says "get better". Just when you think you have one component of The Bugger licked, wham! Out comes another. Lather, rinse, frakking repeat.

Ayep. Mine basically was, "Start hating your body. Become overweight anyways. Start starving, play with bulimia. Get weight-loss surgery ((lap-band)). Let that eating disorder explode, baby. Go into counseling and start to not fear food. Have the band tightened too much, start vomiting up everything you eat. Start to enjoy vomiting. Wonder what could counseling was, decide to go back into counseling."

And tomorrow, I go to the hospital to get an upper GI and make sure that the band didn't slip and that it's just too tight. And try not to freak out when they get mad that I didn't lose weight. I ate what I wouldn't through up - cheese, basically, and chocolate bars. And I'm on lithium. I'm holding water, damnit.

I need to find a different doctor who won't yell at me for not losing enough weight.

Thankeez. I feel healthier after my weight loss surgery, and think I will be happy not being a twig. I just have to get used to the concept of "My entire family has a tummy on them, and thick thighs, and baby fat cheeks. Get used to it."

BTW, if you ever head back to LJ, let me know? I'd love to friend you.

Jesus! Does he not get that you have a ED history? Rule 1 of working with ED clients: never, not EVER, say "lose weight faster kthx". >_<

After the bulimia/too-tight band, have you considered (or maybe more of the issue, would your dentist consider) sealing your teeth? It's generally done with kids but since you've had extra damage to your enamel they may seal them to slow future, normal wear and tear. *huggles*

Nice icon. *giggle*

I don't think he really knew I had an eating disorder, as it was somewhat "under control", aka - I was too scared of getting in trouble to let it out of control, so when he did the surgery, I was just angry at myself and food. But once I started losing weight it became a lot more prominent. I had the band loosened today and went and got a chicken breast for lunch, and ate, and NO VOMIT YAYE.

So. *huggles back* I'm going to probably switch doctors to one nearer here and one more understanding, but he is a good guy. He's just a bit more focused on weight loss. I've lost nearly 50% of my excess body fat so I feel pretty damn good.

Good for you. You have experience that you can speak with authority when someone says "you don't know what I am talking about" and sometimes talking to someone who has gone through what one is going through can help more than just about anything else. It is very brave for you to do.

I hope your health issues get sorted out soon.
