this post brought to you by the letter "P"
A dog groomer dyes a poodle pink, and posts pics.

A short time later, parabolichobo jumps in with "that is just so completely and utterly wrong."

The owner of the blog, lupaloo, tries a bit of reason.

"War, poverty, crime... and you're worried about the crime of dying a dog pink?
Or maybe by wrong you mean hysterically funny and cool."

parabolichobo then replies "definitely not funny and cool, glad you called it a crime!"

It doesn't go much further, but there is a discusson about the edibility of poodle dye, dogs as fashion accessories, and pink-poodle supporters come out of the woodwork after the whole thing goes down.

Plus, a pink poodle!

Aww... I don't care what everyone else thinks, it's adorable. I mean, it looks like cotton candy! SO cute!
Srsly though, I can hardly see how food dye is going to traumatize a dog. It's not like that poodle is going to care how it looks. /my thoughts

People really do love to play "God-Warrior of PetSmart," don't they?

My dog, Captain Usopp, would LIVE on litter-box clumps if I let him. He is an animal who evacuates his bowels in public on a daily basis.

I can't imagine that dyeing him various fun colors would suddenly send such an animal into a spiral of despair and self-hatred, snubbed by all the other dogs in the neighborhood, until he finally turns to alcohol because all other forms of solace are denied him.

But then again, if I chose pink, animal abuse charges might very well be in order.

It's not like the dog cares. Dressing a dog up in cutesy costumes, it might not like that, but because it doesn't like wearing anything. A dog who doesn't mind wearing stuff won't care if it's the dorkiest looking dog to ever exist.

I used to know some people who would use vegetable based dyes to dye their rabbit. It was very amusing and I doubt the rabbit ever even noticed.

My mum is a dog groomer and you should see some of the stuff people request for their dogs. They even now have nail polish for dogs FFS. All safe. All approved.

We had god that looked like a highlighter for a while with gold nails. Cool as fuck I think

We had a poodle when I was little. But it was black, so we couldn't dye her fur.

Although some white skunk streaks would have been boss.

I've a Great Pyrenees (this is what they look like: http://www.dogs-central.com/dogs-puppies/great-pyrenees-dog-puppy/great-pyrenees.jpg) and at one point he was sprayed by a skunk. Now...one of the ways you're supposed to get rid of the stench was to use a tomato juice bath. Well, I gave it a shot. The poor guy was turned bright orange, and of course the treatment didn't work. I found something that did work, but unfortunently the juice had acted like a dye and the colour just wouldn't wash out.

One of our cats is completely white, so the temptation to color on her with washable, non-toxic markers gets the better of us at times. =D No pictures, sadly.

Has anybody seen a dog dyed dark green.
About two inches tall, with a strawberry blonde fall;
Sunglasses and a bonnet
and designer jeans with appliqués on it?

I really have nothing to add but I do have the above lyrics running through my head now.

CUTE!!! A cotton candy poodle would look so cute with our chocolate kitten. The dog can't even see pink, so I doubt it cares.
Someone should suggest trying tie die next that would be awesome.

I work at PetSmart, and one of our groomers gave her dog an electric orange mohawk. He is the most metal dog I have ever seen.

The dyejob doesn't seem to have any adverse effects on him, either, except that he thinks he's way cooler than everyone else.

After some of those hideous bouffant hairdos they put show-poodles in? That the poodles don't mind? Dying the dog pink is nothing.

How kind of parabolichobo to stand up for the oppressed pink poodles. Though the poodle doesn't seem very bothered. If it's anything like my dog the reaction was probably something like "Yeah, yeah, whatever...can I have a treat now? Treat? Want treat. Gimme treat. Treeeeat."

Well, at least it was a dog and not a cat; the cat is more at risk from this sort of shennanigans because they wash themselves, so if there were something harmful in the dye, they might get sick from it.

Happened to a cat belonging to a frat my ex-inlaw used to go to. Sad case!

Also, as long as the dog groomer is doing it to her OWN dog, and not some hapless client's.... who cares?
